#OnThisDay August 7th, 1994. #MichaelJackson was shooting a teaser for his forthcoming HIStory album in Budapest. It was directed by Rupert Wainwright. Fans were invited to participate in the film, which featured a huge army and stunning special effects.
The History album teaser is a commercial created by Michael Jackson for the album launch. It was decided to create an advertisement that somehow reflected the mood for the arrival of Michael's new work. Thus inspired by the great parades at the end of the war.
The city of Budapest in Hungary was chosen for registration, not only because Michael loved its historic buildings, but also because of low production costs. The Hungarian city charged him $ 2 per hour per square meter for the use of a public square, $ 5 for a street and $ 10 for the boulevard.
Michael arrived in the evening on August 5 with 100 people, including about twenty bodyguards. Two days earlier, 85 technicians had arrived to record the video.
There was a throng of reporters, photographers and cameramen on site, as it was the first time that Michael and Lisa Marie made their public appearance as husband and wife.
The scenes where Michael participated were shot during the planned 3 days, the rest of the commercial was recorded in a Los Angeles studio.
On August 7, Michael arrived at around 10.00 am to begin filming, accompanied by his wife Lisa Marie.
In the set already prepared in the courtyard of the Castle of the Kings of Hungary, in the hills of Buda, there was also Valentino, Michael's double, who had been rehearsing for the shooting for more than two hours.
On the second day, the scene will be recorded where Michael walks along Dozsa Gyorgy street, known as Stalin Square. Michael marched alongside 300 soldiers in a large avenue, while the crowd threw confetti and serpentine.
It is said that the coils were launched by some machines. One of the coils containing the coils landed on Jackson's head. For this reason, in the end, to avoid other accidents, they chose to throw them by hand.
During filming, Michael always stayed away from his admirers and protected from the sun with a pink umbrella. Only appeared for a few minutes, to greet everyone, when the cameras were on.
After filming in Hungary, the rest of filming continued at Illusion Arts, with the collaboration of specialists in compositions of images and special effects, Suy Dutton and Bill Taylor.
Thanks to a technology called "Electric Image Animation System", the multiplied effect of the soldiers on the march was obtained, from 300 to thousands.
On May 22, 1995, the HIStory teaser was broadcast for the first time on MTV. Intended to promote the album of the same name which will be released one month later, this almost four minutes advertising film of the British director Rupert Wainwright was filmed in August 1994 in Budapest, Hungary.

OnThisDay August 10th, 1985. #MichaelJackson purchased the “ATV Back Catalogue” for US$ 47.5 million.
The catalogue (publishing rights), today worth 3 times as much, comprises over 4’000 compositions, including 251 songs by The Beatles as well as hits by Pat Benatar, Little Richard, The Pointer Sisters and The Pretenders. Michael already owned the publishing rights to the Sly Stone collection as well as a collection of 60’s hits.
Michael Jackson rewarded his attorney John Branca and then-manager Frank Dileo each with a Rolls Royce for their help in negotiating the “Beatles deal”.
Michael’s decade-old friendship with Paul McCartney was brought to an abrupt end, when he spent $47.5 million buying ATV Music, the company that owned the Lennon-McCartney songwriting catalog. Ironically, McCartney had been the one to suggest Michael invest in music publishing a few years earlier, not suspecting how that advice would affect him personally. Michael Jackson stayed at the home of McCartney and his wife Linda during the recording sessions of #1 hit single “Say, Say, Say”, becoming friendly with both. One evening whilst at the dining table, McCartney brought out a booklet displaying all the songs to which he owned the publishing rights. He explained that music publishing was a way to make big money. Michael Jackson replied by telling Paul McCartney that he would buy The Beatles’ songs one day.
“Great. Good joke“, McCartney laughed.
Paul McCartney, who along with Beatles partner John Lennon had lost ownership of their songs in 1969 due to bad business deals, had declined earlier opportunities to buy it back due to the high asking price, but was nonetheless incensed by Michael’s opportunism. Michael, who finalized the deal in Perth, Australia two months later, quickly put his new purchase to work, and soon sold the rights to Lennon’s song Revolution for a Nike shoe advertisement.
However, Yoko Ono (Jonh Lennon’s widow) was pleased that Michael had acquired Northern Songs and called it a “blessing”. In 1990, she stated, “Businessmen who aren’t artists themselves wouldn’t have the consideration Michael has. He loves the songs. He’s very caring!”
In 1995 ATV Music Publishing was merged with Sony and renamed Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and become the 3rd largest music publisher in the world.
In 2001, Michael declared : “I want to clarify a silly rumour, the Beatles catalogue is not for sale, has not been for sale and will never be for sale.”
Today, Sony/ATV Music Publishing owned and administers more than 500,000 song copyrights, valued at about $4-5 billion.

August 11, 1969. Diana Ross invited Hollywood's media
to meet the Jackson 5 at Daisy's Disco in Beverly Hills. Berry Gordy predicted their first three singles will be number 1 hits. The label's marketing team changed its background story, claiming that Diana Ross had discovered Gary Indiana's younger brothers (in fact Bobby Taylor (leader of another Motown band, Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers) discovered The Jackson Five when he saw them playing at Chicago's Regal Theater.
Diana Ross invited 350 guests to a Beverly Hills club to see the newest Motown act, The Jackson 5. Berry Gordy predicts that the Jackson 5 first 3 singles will be number ones hit single and that they will become one of the biggest selling acts of the decade.
Five days later, they performed with Diana at a concert at the Los Angeles Forum.
It was at this party that ten-year-old Michael, just over two weeks away from his 11th birthday, was instructed to tell interviewers that he was only eight years old. Ever the professional, young Michael understood the importance of publicity in show business, and eager to please, he gladly did as he was told.

August 13, 1992. #MichaelJackson performed in Hameln, Germany. What usually only happens in fairy tales actually came true here: 25 years ago yesterday, the King of Pop came to Hameln's Weserbergland Stadium on his Dangerous Tour and gave a concert in front of more than 25,000 enthusiastic visitors that is usually only experienced in metropolises.
When asked why he chosed the medium-sized town of Hameln as his show stage, he is said to have replied that his mother had told him a lot about the Hamelin Pied Piper when he was a child, and that was why he wanted to come to the venue. Let no one say that the world-famous legend of the piper can't also lure an absolute megastar to the Lower Saxony province ...

August 15, 2004. #MichaelJackson attended the First
AME Church in Los Angeles, along in support with his attorney
Thomas Mesereau, his brother Randy and Steve Harvey. Afterwards,
they visited Cecil Murray Education Center to answer questions
from school students.
Michael Jackson was a special guest of Rev. Cecil "Chip" Murray at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, one of the most respected churches in the Los Angeles African-American community.
At 10:00 a.m. Michael Jackson, his youngest brother Randy Jackson, entertainer Steve Harvey, and attorney Mr. Thomas Messerau sat comfortably towards the back of the church and enjoyed the service. Although news of Michael's appearance was not widely publicized, the press from most major news channels were on hand. Much of the public learned of Michael's appearance from hearing it mentioned on the Steve Harvey radio program earlier. There were a handful of fans who knew where First AME Church was located and were able to be there to greet Michael. After Michael left the church he made his way to the Cecil F. Murray Education Center, a small school a block away that is run by First AME Church. There, he was scheduled to greet a class room full of about 25 African-American children. The press were told before Michael entered the room that there would be absolutely no questions that would be allowed by the press.

Back in 1969, after coming off a number one single with " I Want You Back " ( the first national single released by Motown on October 7, 1969, and became the first number-one hit for the band on January 31, 1970. It was performed on the band's first television appearances, on October 18, 1969 on Diana Ross's The Hollywood Palace and on their milestone performance on December 14, 1969 on The Ed Sullivan Show ).
The Jackson 5 was brought to a standstill by Hollywood painter M. Werlin who is shown working on a portrait to be used as the album cover of the team's forthcoming LP. Werlin whose works have been exhibited nationally, is a noted realist who has been commissioned for portraits by numerous movie stars. His fees for the 4' x 4' painting are, according to Motown, higher than the original cost of most Presidential portraits hanging in the White House. The group's current album is " Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5 " which will be released on December 18th, 1969.

On August, 17th, 1995. #MichaelJackson went online via
"Sony Music Internet" for his 1st internet chat. In 1995, the Internet was in its infancy among the general public with (still) some 10 million users. Michael Jackson became the first artist to use the Internet during a simulchat organized in the Museum of Television and Radio in New York (now called The Paley Center for Media), thanks to the networks of the three biggest providers of the time, America On line, CompuServe and Prodigy and of course the Internet. The MTV channel broadcasted the event simultaneously.

August 18th, 1990. #MichaelJackson welcomed 130 children from the “YMCA” Summer Program in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara to his ranch. They were treated to a barbecue meal, played video games, visited his zoo, and watch movies. Each child was given a free pair of sneakers, and you can bet they weren’t Reeboks! The children made him a banner reading, “We Love You Michael” and made him an honorary member of the 8th St. YMCA in Los Angeles.

August 28, 1993. #ElizabethTaylor flew nineteen hours from Los Angeles despite her frail health, she traveled around the world to be by her friend Michael.
The actress Elizabeth Taylor arrived shortly after midnight Sunday 29 to join her friend #MichaelJackson. Elizabeth Taylor checked into Riffies Hotel around 2.00 am local time.
Despite her frail health, Elizabeth Taylor didn't hesitate for a moment when she found out that her friend Michael Jackson needed her support: "I would go to the ends of the earth for him".
Michael, on the eve of his 35th birthday, was about to leave Thailand and go to Singapore, and Liz knew he needed her by his side. Michael is more than a good friend. "He's part of the family". So she packed her bags and, without her usual personal entourage, made a trip to meet her friend.
Michael, who arrived in Singapore from Thailand, was very happy to see Liz. Both were staying in the same hotel and had their respective rooms filled with orchids.
They had time to celebrate Michael's birthday with the singer's favorite cake. Carrot pie with many layers. Now that Liz has arrived, Michael is someone else.

August 28, 1993. #MichaelJackson before leaving Bangkok, went to a Duangkamon shop in the morning to buy newspapers. Michael wanted to know what journalists were saying about his concert the day before and about him in general. Michael stayed inside the shop for about 10 minutes, greeting the owners and taking pictures even of those just born. His 10 minutes were enough to gather a huge crowd in front of the shop, that in order to get out and go to his hotel, the Thai police had to intervene to protect him.

Messaggio da soulmum » 7 settembre 2021, 15:15

September 6th, 2001. #MichaelJackson went to Madison Square Garden to rehearse his duets with Britney Spears, Whitney Houston and N ' Sync.
Everything began for me in April 2001 when Michael’s then assistant, Evvy Tavasci, told me she could reserve for me and a couple of people from our staff, first-row tickets for a still unannounced concert Michael Jackson was planning for that september. When I learned about how big the whole project was, and after realising I was being offered unique tickets in premium style, I didn’t think twice and accepted the proposal. In few weeks I got my ticket to attend the opening night of the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Special Show at the Madison Square Garden in New York, an event to celebrate Michael’s solo career that saw the re-union on stage of The Jacksons in their original line-up and other artists to perform Michael’s hits. I had been missing Michael, I had met him just one year earlier, but I hadn’t seen him performing live since 1999, when I had attended the Michael Jackson & Friends concert in Munich.
My experience (and not only mine) with his concerts till then had been quite like a military camp training: wake up early (and when I say early I mean 4 am) to make sure you would be the first in the queue, wait outside the venue under the sun, the rain, the snow until, after 14 hours of exhausting awaiting, the gates would open and you’d find yourself having to fight for your own life more than for the first row. If you were lucky and strong enough to survive the fans’ madness, you’d finally earn your own – very very little – spot, grab the front barriers and never let go until death do you apart. If death wouldn’t do you apart, the 30.000 people behind you would probably try to and eventually maybe succeed.
So yes, going to a Michael Jackson concert was an out-of-the-world experience, in every sense.
Now, there I was, holding a ticket in my hand that spoke of a dream I had always dreamt of: being able to enjoy at least a concert of his from the first row without having to fight, hit, run or risk my life. It was happening, I couldn’t believe it. And what actually happened exceeded all expectations: not only the seats were first central row, but the stage was so close that I was going to see Michael performing in front of me few feet away. A second dream come true in less than two years (for the first one read how I met him).
The gates opened at 7 pm so we arrived (I was with our collaborator Alessandro Capuano) in time for the opening. There was a reserved entrance for our tickets, so it was quite fast and hassle-free for us to reach our seats. Once there, we enjoyed glasses of champagne on the house and also managed to have a quick chat with Dionne Warwick and Gina Lollobrigida who were seating 4 rows behind us.
After a while, the legendary Madison Square Garden was already packed, everyone waiting for the irreplaceable King of Pop. When the lights went off, I realised I was going to see Michael Jackson, The Jacksons, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Whitney Houston, Al Jarreau, Yoko Ono and Liza Minnelli (to name some) all on the same stage on the same night. A part of the history of American entertainment all there, so close to us. I asked Alessandro to pinch me.When actor Samuel L. Jackson walked on stage and announced Whitney Houston, Usher and Mya to perform “Wanna Be Startin’ Something” the crowd went mental, for a moment I thought the venue was about to explode. The performance was amazing, Whitney Houston appeared very thin and weak, she wasn’t in her best shape that day, but vocally and artistically she delivered a perfect performance, one I’ll always remember in my life.
During the other artists’ performance Michael was sitting with part of his family, Maculay Culkin and Elizabeth Taylor in a booth on the right of the stage. After the first performance, Marlon Brando’s humanitarian speech on stage marked a pivotal moment of the show. There he was, a true legend, talking to us. I asked Alessandro to pinch me again, you never know. Then a series of good performances followed: the touching tune “Ben” (one of Michael’s favourites) performed by Billy Gilman, Gloria Estefan and James Ingram’s duet on “I just can’t stop loving you”, Marc Anthony’s super-melodic version of “She’s out of my life”, Al Jarreau performing “Ease on down the road” with Jill Scott, Monica and Deborah Cox, who also performed “Heal The World” with Mya, Tamia and The Brooklyn Youth Choir. The more we heard Michael’s songs live the more we wanted him on stage, but we had to wait as there were at least 3 or 4 more unforgettable moments waiting for us. The first one was Liza Minnelli walking on stage and performing her very own version of “You are not alone”, followed by one of the most beautiful songs in history, “Over the rainbow”. My body was covered with shivers and it was quite warm in there. Time for more pinching.
Another remarkable performance was “Bootylicious” by Destiny’s Child. Wearing white shiny short skirts and tops, single white sequinned gloves and white hats, they danced and sang to the notes of their hit mixed with “Billie Jean”. At that point I looked at Michael in the booth and I have to say he seemed amazed by such beauty and talent; believe me friends, he was enjoying the view A LOT.
Then it was time for Ray Charles, yes ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Ray Charles, to take the piano and deliver a monumental performance of “Crying time”, with Cassandra Wilson.
When Elizabeth Taylor walked on stage, we knew that was it. Michael was about to walk on stage… (another small, tiny pinch, please). You could hardly hear what Elizabeth was saying because it was one of those moments when the audience is out of control.
When she finally said the words, “Ladies and Gentlemen, Michael Jackson and The Jacksons” and the explosion of the fireworks rumbled the venue, time stopped, the rest of the world didn’t exist anymore. We were on another planet.
There he was, standing still, his back turned. The alien fallen from another planet: dressed in total white, with a golden helmet, his presence on stage was enough to drive every single living being in the venue crazy at least. The quiet, shy man sitting in the booth at the right of the stage had completely disappeared. Few seconds and he takes off his gloves and helmet, turns his back to face us in the audience, my heart starts beating so fast I think I’m about to have an after-life experience. His brothers join him from the back of the stage, then all of them, including Michael, take off their jackets. Kathrine Jackson smiles, happy, from the booth. Michael moves into one of his famous poses (left hand on his crotch, right arm up), the music starts: the groove of “Can You feel it” thunders all over. Randy starts singing, interacting with the audience, but when Michael walks into the song it’s heaven to our ears. He’s a tiger full of energy, running from one side to the other, his voice sounds harsh. He’s the scene-stealing, stage animal we’ve come to know so well. And we are witnessing all of this at such a close distance that pinching wouldn’t be needed anymore: I knew I was living a dream come true.
For the song “Dancing Machine” Michael and his brothers were joined on stage by then biggest boy band around ‘N Sync, whose member Justin Timberlake tried to match Michael’s moves. While the fact that for the first time since the Victory tour in 1984 Michael had been reunited on stage with his brothers was exciting enough, the best was yet to come. And it came. After a duet with Britney Spears on “The way you make me feel” where the beautiful blonde singer delivered very poorly in terms of voice (but we had eyes and ears only for Michael, so never mind), it was time for “Billie Jean”. I think this was definitely one of his best ever performances of this song. Ever. The energy and some suppressed rage in his moves made it unique, made it magic, made it unreachable. As if it wasn’t enough, Guns ‘N Roses legendary guitar player Slash joined him on stage for an electrifyingly rock performance of “Black or White” and “Beat it”, followed by “You rock my world” – it was the first and last time this song was performed live – which brought the occasion for a fresh choreography and a mind blowing dance “challenge” between Michael and Usher, joined by actor/comedian Chris Tucker.
Just when we thought Michael had left the stage, it was time for the last big surprise: an all-star performance of “We are the world” directed by Quincy Jones. They were all on stage: Michael, Quincy, Ray, Dionne, Kenny, Al, Yoko… During the song, Michael hugged Quincy Jones and Yoko Ono, and shook hands with all the artists on stage, gently caressing Ray Charles’ face in his unmistakable sweetness. “We Are The World” was the last song goodbye. We saw him leaving the stage. Never in the world we would have thought that – apart from the following show date of september 10 – that would have been the last concert of his life. Who would have thought.

September 7th, 1995. As part of the big push to promote his greatest-hits album HIStory: Past, Present and Future: Book I, #MichaelJackson kicked off the 1995 Video Music Awards with an epic 15-minute medley of some of his biggest hits, including "Beat It," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Black or White" and "Smooth Criminal."
Michael Jackson was joined onstage by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, who had previously recorded a number of tunes with Michael Jackson on both HIStory and 1993's Dangerous. The top-hatted star ripped through the songs with aplomb, while Michael Jackson strutted and danced maniacally.
Michael Jackson and Slash cut one of the classic silhouettes in the history of the VMAs: the pair standing downstage, wind machines blowing around smoke, with Michael Jackson dancing and Slash pulling off a blistering guitar solo during "Black or White." When the performance was over, the crowd at Radio City Music Hall gave Michael Jackson a deafening standing ovation worthy of the size and scope of the performance.
Later that night, Michael Jackson collected two awards (one for Best Choreography, the other for Best Art Direction) for the video for "Scream," his collaboration with his sister Janet.
"To celebrate both the new songs and old hits of the recently released HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, Michael Jackson opened the 1995 VMAs with an epic 15-minute(!) medley that puts 10 songs from King of Pop's solo career in a blender. Vincent Price's "Thriller" laugh cackles over a four-second supercut of several different sections of "Beat It." He dances over the "Billie Jean" bassline for a minute before singing but one line of the song. Slash, then in his frustrating final months in Guns N' Roses, falls to his knees and solos endlessly like a man possessed. But in a surprising turn of events, it's a deep cut, "Dangerous," that gets most fully realized setpiece, taking breaks for "Smooth Criminal" and Ennio Morricone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly theme" - #RollingStone

26th, 1990. #MichaelJackson here on picture with Ofra Haza, Michael attended the unveiling of a painting of himself titled The Book made by Australian artist Brett Livingstone Strong at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.
“The Book” is said to be the only portrait Michael personally sat for during his lifetime. The 40-inch by 50-inch portrait was unveiled in the presence of Mr. Hiromichi Saeki who paid $2,100,000 for the original, the most expensive portrait of a living person. Mr. Saeki was one of the most influential Japanese merchandisers and concert promoters of Michael Jackson. Michael is draped in a “Renaissance Effect” within this portrait and even deeper inside is standing, posing for Brett in a slightly earlier dimension of time.
The Book capture one of the most talented musicians in the world, painted by one of the most talented artists of our time, Brett-Livingstone Strong, hailed by the King of Pop as “A modern day Michelangelo”, in the ultimate expression of beauty, both musically and artistically, remembering Michael at the pinnacle of his career.

September 13, 1989 when, at a press conference at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, #MichaelJackson's new multi-million dollar deal with the American shoe company ′′ L.A. Gear".
The two-year, $28 million deal called for the King of Pop himself to design and market lines of casual footwear and sportswear and appear in a series of commercials.
In fact, as part of the marketing campaign related to the project called ′′ Unstoppable', a wide range of activities were planned to promote the collection.
At the press conference, Michael, in a purple shirt, black suit and sunglasses, in place of his iconic loafers wore, not coincidentally, a pair of ′′ L.A. Gear ′′ black and silver tennis shoes.
′′ I ' m looking forward to the challenge of creating and designing clothes with this fabulous Los Angeles-based, leading fashion company ′′ was his statement, as usual.
′′ I am happy to be a part of the magic of L.A. Gear', and I hope that together we can go down a very rewarding and successful path. Thank you."
The company's stock responded very positively, reaching well over four points within three days of the announcement.
The collaboration with Michael Jackson was for the company ′′ much more than a growth opportunity, than a strategy to try to maintain its image in the fashion world," according to the words of analyst Frank Podbelsek to ′′ Advertising Age.
As if that wasn't enough, the launch of the line linked to MJ's name should have also accompanied the release of ′′ Decade', a double collection of the King of Pop's greatest hits enriched by some unreleased tracks and the cover of ′′ Come Together ′′'.
This last project was however quickly put on hold, especially for the abundance of unreleased material that led to prioritize instead the realization of a brand new album: the era of Dangerous was now coming.
Despite this, from August 1990, the commercials of ′′ L.A. Gear ′′ with Michael protagonist began to be aired even in cinemas.

September 18, 1993. #MichaelJackson visited Jerusalem this Saturday. He was mobbed by enthusiastic Israeli fans from the moment he arrived here last Friday with a retinue of some 200 assistants, managers, bodyguards and stage hands.
Michael Jackson devotees greeted the singer wherever he went with awe and admiration, until Saturday, when a group of fervently Orthodox Jews gave him a less-than-friendly welcome as Michael Jackson attempted to approach the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The group, finding all the stir surrounding his appearance there unseemly, overturned tables and chairs in an effort to barricade the path of Michael Jackson before he could reach the Wall.
Michael Jackson ultimately turned away from the barricade to avoid a confrontation.
It was the lone sour note during his Israeli tour, which included a trip to Masada and a shopping spree in the Dizengoff Shopping Center here.
Michael Jackson spent Monday, put aside as a day of rest between his two concerts, visiting two children’s hospitals in the Tel Aviv area: Beilinson and Assaf Harofeh.
He spent some hours visiting the bedsides of young patients in the cancer and transplant wards, seeking to cheer them up. He was careful to divide his visits between Jewish and Arab patients.

September 22, 1989. The Capital Children’s Museum awarded #MichaelJackson with “The Best of Washington Humanitarian Award” in recognition of his efforts for children all over the world. Michael Jackson visited the museum in April 4th, 1990.
On April 4, 1990, while on an official visit to Washington where he was to meet President Bush and receive the "Artist of the Decade" award from the Capital Children's Museum, Michael Jackson went to the Capital Children's Museum, then located at 220 H Street NE (the museum, now called the National Children's Museum, after moving to the suburbs, is currently closed and looking for new premises in the capital).
During this one and a half hour visit, Michael is accompanied by Ann Lewin, the director of the museum's National Learning Center, and tests the many activities. Ann Lewin can be seen with Michael on many pictures that day...as well as in a video created in the U-TV interactive television studio (one of the museum's animations where Michael spent ten minutes), also with Stan Woodward and MediaWorks director, producer Jesse Vaughan, under the special effects of the Fairlight operator.
"There were a lot of kids in the museum," Ann Lewin told the Washington Post, "and some people thought it wasn't the real Michael Jackson (...). But a little three-year-old boy came up to her and said, "Hi Michael Jackson". Michael smiled at him and said, "Hi," and wherever we went in the museum, children gathered around him.
Christopher Grotke, former Director of Media Arts at the Capital Children's Museum was at the time a mere employee of the museum and he recalls Michael's visits in 1990 and around 1992. He is now in charge of putting the filmed works of the 1990s into digital form.
Michael Jackson arrived on an official visit as part of an agreement with an entertainment company that was promoting new, fairly expensive shoes for children in disadvantaged neighborhoods. It was crazy, unlike any other celebrity visit. We had organized a meeting before his visit where our director even asked us if Mr. Jackson was a suitable person to come to the museum. "What kind of music does he play?" She hadn't heard of him!
Pete, my colleague and friend, arrived to let us know that he would be here soon. A mass of people, assistants, photographers, etc. then arrived. It was almost scary. Impressive bodyguards were at his side, as well as his manager and a number of other people.
The Animation Lab was one of the few rooms in the building with a lockable door. Michael and his assistant entered and closed the door. We all watched the crowd through the large bay windows. We felt like we were in a zoo.
Seeing that he finally had a moment to himself, Michael relaxed. We started talking about the animation. He looked at our books and videos, and kept saying "I have that" and "Do you have a copy of ...?". He told us about his screening room and I showed him the animation booth and how it worked. We talked about Bugs Bunny, Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, and other animation legends.
He spoke softly in a tone that made me think he was protecting his vocal cords. He was thin, dressed in jeans, and very polite.
He signed the wall for us ("With love to all the children, Michael Jackson") and after a few minutes he continued his visit in other parts of the museum.
Before he left, he gave each of us, including me, a pair of shoes in the name of the company. Some children in the museum asked if it was really him!
I had the impression that he had kept his soul as a child. He behaved more like the children who come to the museum than the adults. Calm, shy, then excited when something interested him, like a cartoon series.
About two years later, our director received a call telling him that Michael was in the area and wanted to visit the museum again. This time nothing official, no media. She called all of us and asked if we could stay a little later. "For our old friend Michael? Of course" we all answered.
Michael Jackson's team was very careful about his image (...). They asked us not to have cameras (Pete tried to put one on but, because of the angles, it didn't work), and not to warn the press (our director did, however, as soon as his limousine was safe in the museum).
The limousine arrived and Michael and a young teenager, whom he introduced as his cousin from New York, got out. The limo was filled with toys, Michael tells us that they had just been shopping at a large toy store.
They took a tour of the museum. Michael wore a black silk mask over his face. (...) In the Animation Lab, he told me it was his favorite part of the museum. His cousin was calm and reserved but I tried to take care of him too.
We decided to try a bit of animation and look for a book with large images to use as a background. The Star Wars book!
We opened the book and started to apply it. "I asked, "How about those big walking machines on the snowy planet?
At that moment, right in front of my eyes, Michael became a 12 year old child. "These are the x-13 transporters from Endor. They are created after elephants. George Lucas told me ..." and he told me a very detailed description, like a child answering a question.
However, I had my own questions. I was curious to know more about morphing, one of the special effects used in his new video, Black Or White. I told him that I really liked the effect, and I asked him if he was there when it was created. "Yeah, I saw some of it. Did you like the part where the ponytail comes out? That's my favorite part..." Michael said.
After a while, he had to leave. They jumped in the back of the limousine, this time with photographers at the museum doors trying to get a good picture, and they left.
On June 14, 2013, Scott Christopher, unveiled a previously unseen shot of the King of Pop during his visit to the AMFM Fest. Michael Jackson is alone in one of the rooms of the museum and tries a xylophone in front of a photo of Louis Amstrong.
Michael Jackson escaped into a small showroom and Scott Christopher followed. The photographer had developed a bond with the pop star. They were comfortable with each other. Christopher and his camera had become invisible. Jackson sat down, next to a children's table with three toy xylophones. Above them, on the wall, was a picture of jazz legend Louis Armstrong. The trumpeter was rehearsing in a bathroom before a concert. A photographer had captured him in a spontaneous moment.
Michael Jackson took the sticks and started playing. There was a change in the energy [of the moment] and Christopher felt it. Michael Jackson was lost in his own little world. The photographer recalls, "Michael was expressing what was deep in his heart. His face relaxed, his eyes were in the haze. The man was having fun. He was making music.
Scott Christopher has never shared a photo of a very private moment with a very public man. He was waiting for the right moment.
On June 14, 2013, the photo was unveiled to the public at the AMFM festival in the Coachella Valley.

September 24, 1987. When Michael Jackson toured Japan in 1987, he was invited to dinner at Isao Tomita (a famous composer’s house), where he was offered a cup of Sake. Michael tried different instruments at Tomita's house ′′ It was a friendly greeting with my husband ′′ replied Mrs. Isao.
Michael was invited to dinner at the composer’s house and offered a cup of Sake. The translator told Michael beforehand the Japanese tradition of eating and drinking until your plate and glass was empty.
The cup being so small, Michael knowing the purity of the rice wine and not wanting to offend, he knocked back glass after glass until he couldn’t take anymore and subsequently passed his receptacle under the table to the translator, who drank the wine and passed it back to look like Michael had drunk it. Politeness and intelligence while intoxicated on Japanese rice wine.

September 26th, 1988. #MichaelJackson was back
touring in America after a triumph in Europe this summer. Michael performed his 91st concert and for 3 consecutive sold out shows with an audience of 16,230 loving fans to each date ( 26th, 27th & 28th ) at The Civic Arena, formerly the Civic Auditorium and later Mellon Arena, an arena located in Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Pittsburg magazine covered the event with " The King of Pop Makes a Royal Visit "
Despite all those earlier shows, Michael’s solo appearance here in 1988 seems to be his best-remembered trip to Pittsburgh. Having just conquered Europe and the United Kingdom, he kicked off the second American leg of his phenomenally successful Bad tour with three shows at the Civic Arena on Sept. 26, 27 and 28.
People who worked at the arena at the time recall the preparation as extraordinary. It was helpful that Jackson’s manager, the late Frank DiLeo, was a native of Point Breeze who wanted his family and friends to see the show. A trio of arena employees traveled to the tour’s first domestic dates at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Mo., seven months in advance, to check out the innovative presentation.
The Civic Arena Corporation’s director of marketing and public relations, remembers that show: “Everyone in the audience — which included many well-dressed families — was riveted to the stage, mesmerized and awestruck. With everyone standing on their chairs, you couldn’t take your eyes off Michael for fear of missing something.”
Jackson stayed in the penthouse suite at the Vista (now the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh). D’Errico remembers that a “professional wooden dance floor” had to be installed there so Jackson could practice — and “cool down” after his shows.
The three nights sold out quickly. Jackson pleased everyone with a set list that included a Jackson 5 medley as well as huge production numbers for “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal,” ending the main set with an unmatched trio of hits: “Beat It,” “Billie Jean” and “Bad.”
Local music reviewers liked the shows. Peter B. King of The Pittsburgh Press wrote, “It ain’t natural how Jackson moves, like liquid that somehow holds to a human form.” Scott Mervis of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was impressed, too: “The show was fresh and even ‘bad’ (in the street sense of the word).”

September 30th, 1983. The Jacksons signed Don King as the promoter for the forthcoming #VictoryTour.
The Jacksons announced plans for a major tour in 1984 at a press conference, with boxing promoter Don King offering $3 million in upfront advances. That spring, the Victory album was recorded, to be released shortly before the tour itself.
On the eve of the tour in July, Michael announced, in response to complaints about the lottery system for allocating tickets, that his entire earnings for the tour would go to charities, The United Negro College Fund, the Michael Jackson Scholarship Fund, Camp Good Times for terminally ill children and the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia and Cancer Research.
At the time the tour was announced, the Jacksons had not lined up a promoter for the shows. In the spring of 1984, Chuck Sullivan, son of Billy Sullivan, owner of the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL), went to Los Angeles to see if he could get the Jacksons to choose the team's home, Sullivan Stadium, which the family also owned, for the group's Boston-area shows. After using his financial and legal expertise to help his father regain control of the team he had founded and built in the wake of a 1974 boardroom coup, the younger Sullivan, who had promoted concerts as an undergraduate at Boston College and during his Army service in Thailand, had begun staging concerts at the stadium to generate extra income for the team.
At a meeting, Frank DiLeo, a vice president at Epic Records, the Jacksons' label, told Sullivan that the group's talks with its original promoter had broken down and they were seeking a replacement. Sensing an opportunity, Sullivan returned to Boston and began putting together the financing to allow Stadium Management Corp. (SMC), the Patriots' subsidiary that operated the stadium, to promote the entire Victory tour. Initially he partnered with Eddie DeBartolo, then owner of another NFL team, the San Francisco 49ers, in putting together a bid offering the Jacksons two-thirds of the tour's gross revenue against a guaranteed $40 million.
DeBartolo withdrew when he began to see the deal as too risky, but Sullivan persevered by himself, and in late April DiLeo told him at another meeting in Los Angeles that SMC, which had never handled a tour, would be the promoter of the year's most eagerly anticipated concert tour, expected to gross $70–80 million. The deal was very generous to the Jacksons. Sullivan had agreed that they would receive 83.4% of gross potential ticket revenues, which meant in practical terms that the group would be paid as if the show had sold out regardless of whether it actually did. That percentage was at least 25 points above what was at that time the industry standard for artists on tour. Ultimately, 26 of the 55 dates were played in 17 stadiums that were home to NFL teams.

October 7th, 2005. #MichaelJackson was in London, at The Metropolice Studios, working on a charity song "From The Bottom Of My Heart", to help the victims of hurricane Katrina.
Eight days after Hurricane Katrina hit, Michael Jackson announced
he would release an all-star charity single within two weeks.
Nearly six months later, after questions about exactly who would be participating, the prince who has been hosting Jackson during his self-imposed exile in Bahrain says the song will come out by the end of this month.
In a telephone interview from Dubai last week, Sheik Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the son of Bahrain’s king, said, “The record is coming along great. We’ve been taking our time to perfect it and mix it.”
The song is currently titled “I Have This Dream,” and it includes Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, Ciara, Keyisha Cole, James Ingram, Jackson’s brother Jermaine, Shanice, the Rev. Shirley Caesar and the O’Jays, the prince said.
Missing are James Brown, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz, who Jackson spokeswoman Raymone Bain said in September had agreed to participate.
“We were wondering whether or not it was ever coming out,” O’Jays co-manager Andy Gibson said. “They recorded their part of it two or three months ago.”
The prince said the release has been delayed because additional artists wanted to contribute. But he declined to name those artists, “I’d like to keep that as a surprise”, or to name the company he claimed to have secured to sell the song via CDs and the Internet.
Prince Abdullah, 30, plans to release the song on his own 2 Seas label. “Michael did a wonderful track,” he said. “His voice was phenomenal.” He said the song, which Jackson wrote, “is a message of peace and help and caring. It’s a song of total oneness.”
Michael Jackson, who has been in seclusion since his acquittal on sex abuse charges, has written a song that he will record to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina, according to his publicist.
Michael Jackson wasn’t exactly celebrating his 47th birthday on August 29th, 2005. Not only had he just undergone the horrific ordeal of the Arvizo trial during the first half of the year, but it also happened that August 29th, 2005, was the day that Katrina hit New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, precipitating one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history. The death toll was in the thousands (though to this day, there remains no official, accurate count of just how many died in Louisiana alone), and no one can forget those horrific images of flooded New Orleans and those hundreds of stranded residents who couldn’t or wouldn’t flee. Many of Katrina’s victims were from the poor areas around the Ninth Ward, which not only received the worst flooding but also, where there were many residents who didn’t have transportation or money to evacuate.
I was aware that Katrina had hit on the same date as Michael’s birthday, though in past years I had never really given much thought to the connection. However, with this year being the tenth anniversary of Katrina, I had been thinking a lot more lately about this coincidence, and wondering, if anything, what Michael’s reaction had been. I also wondered if he had planned any kind of relief effort, as he had done with so many past tragedies, from the famine in Ethiopia, to 9/11, to the tsunami disaster in 2004.
I didn’t have to search very long or hard to find that answer. Even though Michael’s spirit had been crushed by a humiliating trial; even though he certainly had plenty of his own woes to think about, and even though he had by then turned very bitter against the U.S. and was living in Bahrain, his immediate reaction to the news of Katrina was how to help the people of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. And apparently, he was giving no thought to the court of American public opinion, or even if such a relief effort could fly in the wake of his name having been so tarnished the previous spring. It isn’t hard to imagine that Michael must have spent his 47th birthday like so many of the rest of us that day, glued to those terrible reports and images coming out of New Orleans. And he responded in the only way a musician truly can. He wrote a song. And apparently, must have done so pretty quickly, because by September 7th, only a little over a week after Katrina hit, the press was announcing his intended charity relief single, “From the Bottom of My Heart.”
“It pains me to watch the human suffering taking place in the Gulf region of my country... My heart and prayers go out to every individual who has had to endure the pain and suffering caused by this tragedy.”
Michael Jackson added: “I will be reaching out to others within the music industry to join me in helping bring relief and hope to these resilient people who have lost everything.”

October 12, 1987, while at the end of his Japanese tour in Osaka #MichaelJackson appeared on the cover of People magazine, including an interview with Todd Gold.
In her book My Family, The Jacksons, Katherine recalls Michael's 1987 trip to Japan. Promising to keep him abreast of what the press was saying about him, Michael told his mother in one of the phone calls: "Mom, it's arrived at the At the point when I'm told you're on the phone, I don't want to take the call because I'm afraid you have something else negative to tell me. And it's hard for me to work when I hear these things because it bothers me."
Katherine said: "Unfortunately, the stories so upset Michael that he ended up writing an open letter to the press in his hotel room." Katherine related that she cried when she read the letter and that she wishes the press 'to meet the Michael I know.' Katherine continues... 'Michael's letter represented her final word' to her critics. A while later Joe and I joined him in Japan for his final concerts there, his focus returned 100% to his tour.'
Letter written by Michael at the Capitol Hotel in Tokyo in 1987. "As an old Indian proverb says... 'Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his loafers.' Most people don't know me, that's why they write things that most of them aren't true. I cry a lot because it hurts and I care about the kids, all my kids all over the world, I live for them If a man can't say anything he can't prove, against a character, the story can't be written. Animals don't attack out of malice, but because they want to live, it's the same with those who criticize me, they want our blood, not our pain. But I still have to reach my goals, I have to seek the truth in all things. I have to bear for the power that I was sent, into the world for the children. But have mercy, because I'm bleeding already long time now." - Michael Jackson
Now read Neal Preston's Testimony.
''When Michael Jackson was on the Bad tour in Tokyo, [People magazine] sent me and writer Todd Gold to do a cover. I had proposed shooting Michael at the Ginza at night, with all the crazy colored neon lights in the background, and he had agreed. Todd and I take a cab to the corner of the street I chose, and there are just normal people walking. Is perfect. A van goes up just in time and Michael leaves. I'm about to start filming when thousands of fans come pouring in from a subway station like zombies in a bad horror movie. It was pandemonium, and we didn't get the shot we wanted. Michael wouldn't do a face-to-face interview either. They told Todd to write questions down on a piece of paper and Michael would answer.
A day later, Todd knocks on my door, shivering. "Look at this." Michael had handwritten this unbelievable ''Rorschach test'' of a letter saying, "I've been bleeding for a long time now", and "I was sent into the world by the children" It was surreal. Todd faxed it to New York and they wanted to reprint it on the cover, but they needed the original. So they put me on the next plane from Tokyo-New York with the letter and my movie so I could deliver everything to the MC. They weren't taking any chances.'' #NealPreston, American photographer.

October 13, 1993. #MichaelJackson visited the Playcenter Attractions Park in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Wednesday night, as soon as he stepped into Brazil, the singer wanted to visit the amusement park. He played in half of the attractions, drank soda, ate “Dutch comb” (waffles with dulce de leche) and smeared himself with caramels. When he returned to the hotel, after so much candy, he still found the stomach to devour chocolate confections, the American brand M&M.
Also on Wednesday night, Michael asked to be bought a four-person camping tent, eight posters with children's illustrations, four small flashlights, and a roll of sticky tape. The artist's advisors went out to fight and managed to find all the orders.
No one in the production ventured to say what Michael did with so many trinkets. They just said that the singer is in the company of three children, all from Los Angeles. And that sometimes the boys go up to the popstar's suite to play.
It is true that yesterday morning Michael called advisers, told them he had lost the batteries for his flashlights, and asked for others. He took the opportunity to pass on a new shopping list: a book with photos of Brazilian Indians and children, virgin video tapes, water pistols and air balloons.
Fábio Cozzolino, 29, one of Michael's security personnel, said there are arcade machines in the singer's suite. Other advisers reported that Xuxa sent the popstar a basket the day before yesterday with wild flowers, lollipops and miniature sprites. The gift included a photo of the “queen of the little ones”. The portrait, in black and white, had a message: “Dear Michael, welcome to Brazil. Xuxa. 10/13."
Among all the singer's whims, what calls the most attention is the desire to win a complete Ronda uniform. Michael loved the outfit of the scouts who escorted him to the Playcenter. Yesterday, he asked DC-Set, producer of the shows in Brazil, to provide him with an identical outfit, medium size, with shoes number 42.''

October 15th, 2006. #MichaelJackson gave an interview to Billy Bush from Access Hollywood in Ireland where he was staying.
"I was the last person to get Michael Jackson to go on camera. Technically, it was his last interview as I asked some questions and he answered them, but it’s not one I’d choose to hang my hat on. Michael was alternately petrified and obsessed with my camera. He loved the small HD handheld 24P size camera and demanded to know where he could get one. But, before the cameras got rolling, while sitting in the small kitchen of his temporary Irish countryside cottage, Michael asked, “Is 5 minutes OK?”
Interviews hadn’t gone well for him in their aftermath since pre-Oprah in 1993.
Our meeting took place in October 2006 about two hours outside of Dublin in a recording studio. Will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas was there, mixing and collaborating with Michael. Michael was much relieved to have Will join us and in truth, Will mostly did the talking. When the music came on, MJ started tapping and moving. He got up and danced, he sang. I was 8 feet away. Wow. I’ll always have that.
Of course my intent was to get him relaxed and talkative. It never really happened cuz that wall wasn’t coming down. I saw the pain in Michael. I knew he could not take one more ounce of disappointment. Michael simply wanted to be universally adored. Loved by ALL. That leads to the ultimate conclusion of his death:
Michael will never be disappointed again. He is right now universally adored. His legacy of hits and impact on music and everyone that came after him is undeniable and EVERYONE in the music community will see to it that THAT wall does not come down. Michael will be immortalized like Elvis, Lennon and JFK. Michael never met an honor he did not want to accept. The love of yesterday and today means so much to him, so I’m sure he is finally…. happy. But back to God.
What did God say? “You are forgiven?”, “I’m sorry?”, “I made Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy and John Landis as well as Joe and Katherine, so therefore I made YOU!”? “You should have trusted Billy Bush and loosened up. He was NOT there to ‘catch’ you in any way?” (My personal regret related choice).

October 14, 1993, young Márcio de Paula , aged 15 at the time, wanted to understand why his street was crowded; residents of the buildings in the region speculated that it was #MichaelJackson, who was in São Paulo to perform two shows at the Cícero Pompeu de Toledo Stadium.
However, on free dates, the star took the opportunity to visit an amusement park in the city of São Paulo and later became interested in visiting the Estrela toy factory, located in Parque Novo Mundo, a neighborhood on the border between Guarulhos and São Paulo.
Márcio didn't know, but he lived a few blocks from the unit, going down to understand the movement. In the midst of intense crowding, he calmly supported himself in a police vehicle and, moments later, was pressed by a van against the vehicle, suffering an open fracture of the femur, in addition to burns resulting from the shock.
The female reporter narration was recorded after the event, and she's just saying what happened next. Jackson's team left the place and the police helped the injured people, took care of them until the ambulance arrived, the hurt cameraman was helped by the TV station he worked for. A total of two young teens, a woman and the cameramen were hurt, but they suffered minor injuries, except for the 15 year old kid by the name Márcio Alberto de Paula with a broken femur.
What the boy also did not expect is that the vehicle that left without providing help was part of the entourage that would take Michael Jackson to visit the factory.
While in the hospital, Márcio got swarmed by reporters and the hospital had to put security outside his room. His father (João Alberto de Paula) tried to sue MJ for the incident, asking for compensation for hospital bills as well as compensation for physical limitations his son had to deal with for a whole year as well as compensation for Michael Jackson trying to use the incident for self promotion.
Days later, the King of Pop decided to personally check the boy's health status, yielding one of the most chimerical episodes in the history of Brazilian entertainment, as Márcio reported exclusively in an interview on Aventuras na História's Instagram .
Michael Jackson allowed himself to be photographed with Márcio at Hospital Anchieta and those pictures showed up worldwide with him apologising and promissing to cover the bills. 3. MJ's security team were the ones driving he SUVs and therefore Michael Jackson felt he was responsible for their actions.
Michael visited him at the hospital (without tellling Márcio and his family beforehand), went Márcio's room, took some pictures and talked to him. Márcio says he understands some people see this visit as a publicity stunt, but he prefers to believe in Michael Jackson's generosity. Márcio also said that it was more difficult to deal with the media attention than to deal with the broken femur, he doesn't like being remembered as "the kid who got run over by Michael Jackson". Here's a picture that was taken of the two of them at the hospital.
“I didn't know he was going to visit me...Early in the morning, his team went there, along with the medical team that had performed the surgery, and asked my parents to leave the room. I thought it was about health or something about me, but when they came back, they were pale”, explained Márcio , just before starting the movement.

October 16th, 2001. #MichaelJackson has played a short scene for the movie Men In Black 2. In the background of M he is somewhere in Antarctica surrounded by penguins. Michael Jackson shot the scene in front of a blue screen and was coached by Director Barry Sonnenfeld.
Michael Jackson enjoyed watching the first Men in Black film and called Will Smith to ask if he could cameo in Men in Black II. Smith gladly accepted.
“Michael Jackson wanted to be in Men in Black II. He told me he had seen the first Men in Black in Paris and had stayed behind and sat there and wept. I had to explain to him that it was a comedy.” #BarrySonnenfeld

October 18th, 1982. #MichaelJackson "The Girl Is Mine"
in duet with Paul McCarney was released as the first single from Michael Jackson's sixth solo album, "Thriller". The song was recorded at Westlake Studios, Los Angeles, from April 14 to 16, 1982. B-side was "Can't Get Outta the Rain".
For the story, Michael Jackson recalled that the recording of
"The Girl Is Mine" was one of his most enjoyable moments in the studio. He explained, "One of my favorite songs to record, of all my recordings as a solo artist, is probably "The Girl Is Mine", because working with Paul McCartney was pretty exciting and we just literally had fun. It was like lots of kibitzing and playing, and throwing stuff at each other, and making jokes. We actually recorded the (instrumental) track and the vocals pretty much live at the same time, and we do have footage of it, but it's never been shown." He concluded, "Maybe one day we'll give you a sneak preview of it." The writing of "The Girl Is Mine" was completed by Michael Jackson as he watched cartoons with Paul McCartney when he visited him.

October 21, 1985. After the Telethon, #MichaelJackson visited the Cohunu Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Gosneles, about 20 kilometers southeast of Perth, Australia.
For the memory, on August 10, 1985, after months of negotiations, Michael Jackson signed the agreement that made him the owner of the ATV Music Publishing catalog.
A party held at the home of an Australian businessman allowed Michael Jackson and Robert Holmes Court to meet in a more confidential atmosphere and possibly discuss the sale of the catalogue.
Neither Michael nor Robert Holmes Court, an Australian businessman of South African descent who owned the catalogue, were present at the signing. They met a few months later, in October of that year, behind the scenes of the Australian version of Telethon.
In fact, one of the conditions included in the contract for the sale of the catalog was that Michael would be a guest of Holmes Court and would appear on Telethon.
Known simply as Telethon , it all started in 1966, when American comedian Jerry Lewis, who has a son with muscular dystrophy, created the program.
Thus, Michael fulfilled his contract termination and arrived in Perth, Australia, on October 19, 1985.
Michael Jackson visit was kept a secret only being revealed days before his arrival.
In the morning, Michael visited the sick children of the Princess Margaret Hospital , one of the institutions that received donations from the charity marathon...“It was great to see all these kids,” recalled Michael.
Then, at 11 am, Michael attended a ceremony organized by Mayor Michael Agapitos. Michael received the keys to the city in front of a large crowd of fans.
Janet Holmes Court, wife of Robert Holmes Court, took on the role of Michael's tour guide during his stay in Perth. They visited an old bookstore where, according to Janet Holmes Court, Michael bought 19th-century medical books.
At night, Michael was received on the Telethon by Peter Waltham and Molly Meldrum. His participation in the show was purely contractual obligations, so Michael didn't introduce himself. His appearance lasted only a few minutes, during which he said he was happy despite the long journey. He talked about the upcoming release of his next album, which he is currently working on.
Michael also donated to a charity auction two hats and a pair of rhinestone socks he wore on stage during the Victory Tour , along with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
Each year, two children from Western Australia are selected to perform on the Telethon stage . That year, two children, Helen Francis and Luke Smith, had the opportunity to meet Michael Jackson.
Four-year-old Helen tells Michael that his hands are cold when he touches her face. Michael was deeply moved by the gift he received from Luke on behalf of Telethon: a brooch from Western Australia with a diamond pointing to the city of Perth. Michael helped the Telethon raise $2.8 million, a record that year.

October 29, 2008. #MichaelJackson left his Los Angeles hotel to attend a Halloween party at Natalie Maines's mansion, the lead singer of Dixie Chicks in Bel Air. He was accompany with Prince, Paris and Blanket. Ironically, many people thought he was simply someone dressed as Michael Jackson.
"A couple people went up to him and told him he had the greatest Michael Jackson costume ever," Maines told Howard Stern. Even her party's DJ thought it was a costume and started playing Thriller when Michael Jackson showed up.
Michael was holding the "Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing" dvd. Michael appeared in high spirits as he beamed at the legions of autograph hunters who immediately surrounded him.

ON THIS DAY IN MICHAEL JACKSON HISTORY NOVEMBER 4 - Stranger in Moscow" is a song by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson from his ninth studio album HIStory. The song was released as the sixth and final single worldwide on November 4, 1996, but was not released in the United States until July 7, 1997 by Epic Records.[2] The track was written by Michael in September 1993, while on the Dangerous World Tour stop in Moscow. An early version of the track's chord structure appears in the video game Sonic the Hedgehog 3; according to conflicting accounts, Michael and his team composed music for the game before leaving the project. Michael wrote the lyrics as a poem before adapting them for the song. The lyrics are based on a poem written by Michael. Guitars were played by Steve Lukather while keyboards, synthesizers and bass are credited to David Paich and Steve Porcaro.[18] Michael used Russian imagery and symbolism to underscore the track's sense of fear and alienation.[19] It concludes with a narrative, spoken in Russian, by a KGB interrogator (Ed Wiesnieski).[20] The narrative, translated into English is, "Why have you come from the west? Confess! To steal the great achievements of the people, the accomplishments of the workers..."[21]The song's music video depicts the lives of six individuals, including Michael who are left isolated and disconnected from the world around them.

November 6, 1972. The Jackson 5 performed their first concert in France, at the Olympia, the mythical Parisian hall, on the occasion of the 8 concerts of their First European Tour. While on tour in Europe this November, a crowd, the size of Beetle mania, gathered at Heathrow airport to greet The Jackson 5, and in England, they broke the attendance record set by The Beatles at the Liverpool Empire Theater. Before leaving the UK, the Jackson 5 performed at the Royal Command Performance for Queen Elizabeth II.
