Michael Jackson's estate has claimed the ex-fiance of one of his sisters used the chaos surrounding the pop star's death in 2009 to rob from his deathbed pajamas and other valuables from his $25million mansion.

Friday's legal filings from Jackson's estate claimed film producer Jeffre Phillips, who was once engaged to La Toya Jackson, was trying to sell off items he allegedly stole after staying in the King of Pop's Los Angeles mansion for nine-days after he died.

While at the Carolwood House, Jackson's lawyers claim Phillips stole the singer's and his children's iPhones, his driver's license, prescription pills, clothes, handwritten notes and a briefcase with personal and business letters.
'In extremely appalling and inhumane act, Phillips even stole the pajamas Jackson was wearing in the final hours of his life,' the lawyers claimed.

'And Phillips stole a resuscitator tube that seems to have been used on Jackson by those who were trying to save Jackson's life in the short and frantic period before his passing.'

The accusations filed against Phillips came the day before the 13th anniversary of Jackson's death, who passed on June 25, 2009.

Jackson's estate claims they received a tip back in December 2021 that Phillips was attempting to auction off items belonging to the late singer.

In an attempt to vouch for the items' authenticity, Phillips allegedly admitted to the auctioneer that the items were taken in the days following Jackson's death while he was at the mansion.

To verify the items, the auctioneer reached out to the estate, letting them know that he had a pair of sunglasses allegedly to Jackson that Phillips allegedly claimed still had 'makeup on it from his face.'

Jackson's lawyers said they have been able to retrieve some of the items Phillips allegedly took, but believe that the man is still in possession of home videos and music the singer had written and recorded before his death.

The estate ultimately asked the court to order Phillips to return any and all property that he allegedly took from Jackson's home.

Lawyers for Phillips could not be immediately reached for comment.

News of Phillips' relationship with La Toya Jackson broke out in the fall of 2009, months after Jackson died on June 25.

Phillips had proposed to La Toya in 2013, with many outlets speculating that the two had actually gotten married in December of that year, rumors that were squashed by La Toya herself.

The two remained engaged until suddenly breaking things off in 2015, TMZ reported. They had remained close friends, but their current relationship is unknown.

Michael Jackson’s estate claims Jeffre Phillips once engaged to LaToya Jackson used the chaos and sadness around Michael’s death to steal a bunch of property from the home where Michael Jackson was murdered.
According to new legal documents, the Estate claims Jeffre Phillips apparently used his 9-day stay in Michael’s Carolwood House to steal personal and private property.
Michael’s estate claims Phillips started staying at the home right after MJ died on June 25, 2009 and pulled off brazen acts of theft under the cover of all the hullabaloo around the home … making off with items including MJ’s iPhone, California drivers license, prescription pill bottles with pills inside and some clothes.
The Estate claims Phillips also stole handwritten notes from MJ, plus a briefcase filled with personal and business papers, as well as video cameras, computers and hard drives and even stole the pajamas Michael was wearing in the final hours before his death — which had apparently been removed from his body by the paramedics trying to save his life — and a resuscitator tube that appears to have been used on Michael.
The lawsuit was filled on Friday 24 June 2022.

Michael Jackson Estate wants to hide the locations of assets from Court documents

Michael Jackson’s estate has rushed to court asking a judge to seal documents that reveal the locations of some of Michael’s assets and memorabilia in the Jeffré Phillips’ case.

Now, the estate agreed to seal certain parts of the filings Jeffré requested. “Given the potential value of the property at-issue and the possibility that a person may attempt to locate and steal that property, the Co-Executors respectfully request that those portions of Exhibit D that may disclose the current location of the property be redacted from the public record,” the estate said.

“For better and for worse, the interest in all things Michael Jackson remains very high even thirteen-plus years after his untimely passing,” the motion reads. “The Court can certainly take judicial notice of this. And although the risk that someone might attempt to steal the property may not be particularly high, it also cannot be dismissed outright as paranoid speculation.”

“The unfortunate fact is that people steal valuable property all the time. The costs of the property being stolen would likely be irreparable as that could mean that the property is lost forever,” the estate added. As a result, the agreed to seal the portion of the document where the location of MJ’s items was revealed.

The parties are set to face off in court later this year.
