Michael Jackson humbly opened up on why he REFUSED to display gold records in his house
MICHAEL JACKSON was - and still is - one of the most successful pop artists of all time. And while he no doubt captured the hearts of a number of his fans, he once explained in an insightful interview that, despite his numerous awards, he never displayed by gold records or trophies in his house for one huge, humble reason.

Michael Jackson fans have been enjoying the message of the king of pop for decades. While the Billie Jean hitmaker has been dead since 2009, his legacy has lived on to continue bringing new fans into the fold of the star's fandom.

While Jackson of course garnered a huge amount of praise and awards over the years, an interview from just a few years before his death has seen him point out why he didn't like putting awards in his house.

Over his expansive career Jackson won over 750 awards, including a staggering number of best-selling albums.

While a number of these awards were simply incredible achievements, many of them were physical awards that stayed with him for life.

However when talking to Geraldo Rivera in 2005, Jackson explained why he left them unseen.

The journalist first asked the star about whether he ever thought about his achievement from creating the song Thriller.

To which he responded: "I think about it sometimes but I try not to think about it too hard."

He revealed: "Because I don't want my subconscious or my mind to think 'I've done it all,' or 'you're done now!'"

Jackson shook his head: "No, that's why I don't put awards or trophies in my house.

"You won't find a gold record anywhere in my house.

"Because it makes you feel like you've accomplished: 'Look what I've done!'

"I always want to feel [like] no, I haven't done it yet."

Jackson was making hits since he was just a child.

Recently, the official Michael Jackson Twitter account posted a throwback to one of the star's oldest songs: Ben.

The song was released when Jackson was just a child, and was released to coincide with the release of a film of the same name.

It saw Jackson giving his most tender performance at the time, and even scored him an Oscar nomination.

The tweet itself praised the young star's talent.

It read: "It was Michael’s first solo #1, won a Golden Globe, and made even more of the world aware of the power of Michael Jackson."

The tweet was posted alongside a photo of a young Michael, prompting fans to praise him once again.

One wrote: "I'm glad to see his entire career represented by the estate! Some of us have been fans from the BEGINNING."

Another agreed: "Ben is one of my favorite all-time songs.. I cry every time.. Has so much meaning."
