Tulsa mom remembers Michael Jackson’s kindness
CURTIS KILLMAN - TULSA WORLD
Published: Sun, June 28, 2009 12:00 AM

Karen Wilson was returning to Tulsa from a business trip when she heard the news Thursday that pop icon Michael Jackson had died.
"It brought back some wonderful memories of my son and how special Michael Jackson treated him,” Wilson said.

"His loss was terrible, and his death brought up a heavy heart.”

In 1984, her 14-year-old son, David Smithee, who was terminally ill with cystic fibrosis, met Jackson at his California home.

The visit was part of David’s weeklong California trip, made possible by a non-profit organization that fulfills the dreams of dying children.

During the afternoon visit at Jackson’s Encino, Calif., home, David watched a movie with Michael in his home theater, played video games and learned how to moonwalk.

Of the video games, David told a Tulsa Tribune reporter, "I played two games with him and beat him both times.”

Jackson gave David the red leather jacket he had worn in the "Beat It” video and a beaded glove he had worn to the American Music Awards, where he collected eight awards.

David wore the jacket and glove home on the plane to Tulsa, his mother recalled.

"He was just in heaven,” Wilson said.

David, an eighth-grader at Nimitz Junior High School, went straight to the hospital after arriving home, his mother said.

While in the hospital, David showed visitors the jacket, glove and pictures of himself and Jackson, Wilson said.

David died one month after arriving home.

"Michael Jackson gave us the happiest last month of our lives” together, Wilson said. "He died very happy,” she said of her son.

The visit must have made an impact on Jackson too, who later dedicated the Jackson Five’s "Victory” album to David.

Wilson, who since has remarried, continued to follow Jackson’s career both on and off the stage after her son’s death.

She remains an adamant defender of Jackson.

"Despite everything that was said of him later, we saw none of that,” Wilson said. "I never, never, never believed any of it. He was alone with my son a lot and never did anything ever happen.

"I never really believed any of that.”

Wilson still has all of the pictures and memorabilia from her son’s visit with Jackson.

And she still has the jacket and glove.

"They are under lock and key,” Wilson said. "But now they’ve become too fragile to take out and touch too much.”

Ironically, Wilson was dancing to a Jackson song Wednesday night while at a convention during her business trip.

The song gave Wilson the opportunity to tell others about her son’s meeting with Jackson.

"I still, when a Michael Jackson song comes on, my heart still pounds,” Wilson said.

April 14, 1984. #MichaelJackson attended the "TJ Martell Foundation Annual Galla" dinner. Michael presented Tony Martell with a check for $500,000 for the Foundation.
For the story, Tony Martell is a veteran executive in the American music industry. In 1973, his teenage son, TJ Martell, was diagnosed with leukemia and in 1975, TJ died, at the age of 19...With the loss of his son, Tony joined efforts to raise funds for leukemia, cancer and AIDS research, and the TJ Marlell Foundation was created.
A gathering of leaders from various fields, the TJ Martell Foundation's Annual Awards Gala serves to provide recognition for humanitarian work and raise funds for research and innovative treatments in the fight against leukemia, cancer and AIDS.
In 1984, Michael Jackson was solely responsible for setting up a 19-bed unit at Mount Sinai New York Medical Center, a center that is now a key part of the Leukemia and Cancer Research Foundation.
Later that same year, during a press conference at Tavern On the Green, Michael Jackson announced that all the profit he would be entitled to during the Victory Tour would go to charity, with a portion going to the TJ Martell Foundation, adding $100,000 to support research at the time. It was the highest donation in the United States.
On October 28, 2009, at the Foundation's thirty-fourth Annual Celebration at the Hilton Hotel in New York City, Michael was honored with the Foundation's "Legend Award Lifetime" award.
The Foundation awarded that award for the first time, to honor the Foundation's greatest beneficiary.
Tony Martell said, "Michael was a very shy man. He never wanted to go public with his good deeds. The night he gave me a check for $500,000, I wanted to announce it at the party, but he wouldn't let me. We are so grateful for your generous support and know that your humanitarian legacy will remain. The TJ Martell Foudation extends our sincerest condolences to Michael Jackson's family, friends and fans around the world. Michael was a friend of the Foundation and was also the largest donor in our 34-year history."

Michael Jackson

“I believe in my heart that the greatest challenge facing our nation—and the world—is to improve the quality of life for our children. President Carter and The Atlanta Project share my deep concern about the suffering of children all over the country." - Michael Jackson
On this day in 1993, Michael joined former President Jimmy Carter, co-chairman of the Heal Our Children/Heal The World initiative, in Atlanta, GA to help promote The Atlanta Project’s Immunization drive. 17,000 children were immunized in just 5 days - the most comprehensive immunization program ever mounted in the U.S. at that time.

"...I've seen the very rich and the very poor, but I'm mainly interested in the poor."
(Michael Jackson, August 1977)
In the book, Remember The Time:Protecting Michael Jackson In His Final Days, written by the bodyguards who have been by Michael's side for the last two years of his life, Bill Whitefield and Javon Beard, report an incident that happened in Las Vegas where he lived Michael with his kids after returning from Bahrain. They were inside Michael's private car when he noticed two homeless, a man and a woman fighting. Michael immediately told them to stop at the end where they stayed for a few minutes, realizing no one would stop to help them. So he thought to act himself by giving them money and telling them to use it only for food and not drugs.
However this wasn't the only time Michael helped a homeless man. A few days later he asked their bodyguards to take him to the ′′ other side of town ", to help other homeless people. That's how it happened. Upon reaching the point Michael lowered his window so no one would recognize him and distributed money to the homeless, mostly women, because he wanted to be sure they would have the money to buy the necessary. At some point the money he had taken with him ended and he was so mad at himself because he didn't get more. After that Michael continued to give, mostly, food several times and one of them had taken his children with him.
Through the testimony of these two people, who lived with him the last time of his life, we once again find that Michael cared about his fellow humans of independent color, origin, religion, age or social class and wanted to offer them whatever more could. This is his mindset he wanted to pass on to the world through his songs, his speeches, his poems and more.

for young Ramon Sanchez’ funeral, mortuary and cemetery costs
and a headstone, illustrating how he is a "point of light" and that
each person can help a dispriviliged someone. 9-year old Sanchez
was killed during the Rodney King violent riots in California, while in his kitchen having a glass of milk. His parents couldn't afford to bury him, hence Michael Jackson's aid. The Sanchez family later have the opportunity to thank the singer in the flesh, being arranged for them to visit a studio in Culver City, where he was filming a Pepsi ad. Through a translator, the mother of Ramon told to Michael Jackson that "Ramon was one of your biggest fans. You have helped to make a very tragic time for us more bearable. Your involvement was a pleasant surprise, and we are eternally grateful."

May 28, 1996. #MichaelJackson sent a floral tribute of white roses, carnations and lilies to the London funeral of one of his British fans, Jaymee Bowen, who lost her battle with leukaemia. Jaymee’s story became headline news earlier in the year when hospitals refused to provide her with more chemotherapy or a second bone marrow treatment as they believed her chance of survival was only a small one. Jaymee was due to attend one of Michael’s concerts and meet him backstage in just a couple of weeks. On the card, he wrote: "May your courage be an inspiration to us all. Your spirit shines on. Love Michael Jackson." Her favourite songs: ‘Farewell My Summer Love’, ‘Ben’ and ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ were played at her funeral. Michael’s tribute fuelled rumours that he was the one that had anonymously paid for treatment almost 2 years earlier, which bought Jaymee another 17 months of life.

Throughout 2014, the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin foundation is celebrating its 30th anniversary and has been recalling the ''special wish'' stories that represent the more than 5,000 votes that have been granted during its 30-year history.
Immagine
The first wish granted was in 1984 to Catina "Tina" Scharf, diagnosed with a brain tumor since the age of six. In 1984, when Tina was 11 years old and had an inoperable brain tumor that left her easily tired and sometimes in a wheelchair, her biggest dream was... "I'd like to meet Michael Jackson."
Immagine
In 1984, Michael Jackson was the biggest star in the world and having access to the sold-out Victory Tour where he would meet with the brothers was almost impossible. Thanks to the efforts of a small group of foundation volunteers, Catina's wish was granted. [...] On August 1, 1984, The Milwaukee Journal reported the occasion when Catina, wearing a 'Jackson' tiara, a Michael T-shirt and holding a photo album of Michael, met her artist before the concert.
Immagine
Victory Tour at the Meadowlands complex in East Rutherford, NJ. Feature.. published in Milwaukee Journal. ''The new chapter of the Wisconsin Make a Wish Foundation of America, which aims to grant wishes to terminally ill children, paid for Catina's trip to New Jersey, along with her parents Sherry and William and her sister Lucinda (18). Jackson's team provided tickets for the show for the Scharfs. Catina also wanted a press pass as a souvenir, and Jackson's people gave her six of them. "Look at the energy she has," Catina's mother said in Mitchell Field as she watched the girl move, chatting with friends and supporters. ''She's been going like this since ten in the morning. And she hasn't gone to bed since two o'clock this morning. When she woke up today, she had a big smile on her face and she said, 'He's so cute!' She was shocked. Now she has her memories, but it's going to be a little short on details because she can't remember what Jackson told her. She remembers that he was dressed all in white, with glitter in his clothes, but his words are lost somewhere in his mind or heart." 'They brought me into a small room and he walked in,' she said. 'I I didn't say anything. I just stared... my mind was blank. I couldn't think of anything.' This was clearly an event of almost cosmic importance for Catina - just being there in the same room with Jackson, seeing him up close and knowing he had come to see her. The words weren't that important - his presence was. had thought that her desire to meet the superstar singer was just a dream and maybe, she even dared to dream that he would kiss her on the cheek and hug her like he did.'' Catina and her mother remained in the room with Jackson for 10 to 15 minutes, according to the child. But no one was really timing the event, which was shared by a boy from New Hampshire who also has a brain tumor. Jackson had more than a kiss and hug for Catina. He also gave to her his autograph. He signed a book about it, which she had brought with her. ''Love, Michael Jackson,'' he wrote, with big drawn lines, that his autograph looked like a drawing of a bird's nest. people look at the autograph at the airport, but she told everyone not to touch him. ''It's mine,'' she said. Tina's mom remembers: ''It gave her a chance to have something she wanted very deeply, and to forget about the pain and chemotherapy and radiation and all the things she was going through.'' Mom's comment. Tina on Make-a-Wish Wisconsin's facebook page, in reference to another family benefited by the foundation ''I know how this family feels, as my daughter, Catina Scharf, got her first wish granted by the Make-A- foundation. Wish Wisconsin. They put us on a flight to New Jersey so she could meet Michael Jackson. It was a wonderful experience for the whole family and I can never thank them enough for giving her that weekend away from the hospital, clinic, doctors and nurses.''

A story told by Jermaine:
"..But Michael was destined to be an artist, not a seasoned businessman is what seemed obvious when our dad challenged him one afternoon after school about buying some candy."
"Where were you?" asked Joseph
"I went to buy some candy," said Michael.
Immagine
"How much did you pay for them?"
"Five cents."
"And how much are you going to sell for?"
"Five cents."
Joseph slapped him over the head: "You can't re-sell something for the same price you bought it!"
Michael typically, always very fair, never malicious enough: "Why can't I sell it for five cents?" he said, in the bedroom. Logic was lost on him and he was pissed at the undeserved blow to the head. I left him on the bed, mumbling under his breath as he sorted the candy into piles, no doubt still planning his shop in his head. Days later, Joseph found him in the backyard, giving away candy on the other side of the chain-link fence to other children on the street. The children who were less fortunate than us and for whom he was assaulted. "How much did you sell them for?" Joseph asked.
"I didn't sell it. I gave it to them for free." said Michael

"I will never forget the 19th of July 1997. I went to see my hero, Michael Jackson, in concert. It was my second MJ concert and I was so excited and happy that he had come back to Dublin. During Michael’s show, he has his security people find fans to come up on stage for a particular song. I have Morquio syndrome and security were looking for somebody small. My sister pointed me out and said, “You won’t get anybody smaller!” For once in my life I was so thankful to be small! I will be forever grateful to my sister. When the security man picked me my whole body started shaking, not because I was going to be in front of 35,000 screaming fans, but because I was about to come face to face with my all-time hero! While I was waiting just offstage Michael ran past me, and I let out such a scream that I thought he must have heard me. Thankfully, with all of the noise on stage, he didn’t! The music for "Heal the World” came on and I was wheeled onto the stage. Michael held my hand. Normally I wouldn’t feel anything in my right hand as I had lost feeling in it a few years before, but that night I could actually feel Michael’s hand. He turned to me as we headed off of the stage. He told me that he loved me and I knew that he really meant it! Being so close to him was amazing. The only way to describe it is like a spiritual experience. I felt so much love on that stage; love and happiness. When I got offstage I burst into tears. My friends’ young children who were also at the concert kept asking if I was I ok, and my mother told them, “She is fine. She’s only crying because she is happy.” The memories of that day will stay with me forever and they help me whenever I am sad or upset. A few hours after the concert, I could feel a burning sensation up and down my right arm. The next day I had feeling back in my right hand. I truly believe I got my feeling back from simply holding Michael's hand. My Ma said, "With 35,000 people singing such a positive song as “Heal the World,” you were bound to get a miracle.” I thought I would share this with you, as only true MJ fans would truly understand what happened to me that night. Even though I am in a wheelchair, that night I felt like I was walking on air. I was 18 then, and now thirteen years later I can still honestly say that meeting Michael was the best day of my life, and I am so blessed and thankful that my dream came true."

“When Michael visited the orphanage St. Ecatarina before his History concert in Bucharest, we were the only reporters who were allowed to follow him. Michael was distressed. He told me: ‘There are thousands of children in orphanages in Romania. Most of them have lost their parents, but some were rejected from their families.’ Michael sat on the floor with dozens of kids around him. He was very relaxed and smiled a lot. The children between two and four years curiously observed him at first, but when Michael started to put together some Lego bricks, they quickly joined in the game. Michael did not have any fear of contact, although some of the children had AIDS. He gently picked up a baby who had, been abandoned on the doorsteps of the institute only days earlier. A little girl called Maria started to put candy into his mouth, which was a very moving moment. These children had never known the warmth of a home, nobody wanted them. Their eyes were sad and fearful. For one day, Michael brought a bit of sunshine into their lives. During his visit, the whole orphanage was filled with a cheerful atmosphere, contrary to the usual sadness. He distributed gifts, flowers, toys and played with the children for hours. A staff member said to me: ‘I have never seen the children that happy. For them it was like Christmas!’ Michael donated a considerable sum to the director of the institute in the name of HEAL THE WORLD FOUNDATION, which he founded to help children. It was obvious that Michael did this from his heart, as there were no journalists allowed; he only made an exception for BRAVO. In the evening, Michael went sightseeing in Bucharest and did a tour of the majestic palace, where he also attended a traditional show in the great hall and gave a speech about his concern for children around the world. ‘CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE! THEY ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE HAVE. MY GREATEST WISH IS THAT POLITICIANS THOUGHT MORE BEFORE SENDING THEIR CHILDREN TO WAR’. Other superstars lie in their whirlpools, drink champagne and enjoy their life while Michael spent his time and energy on helping children. And whenever he did, you could tell that he did it from his heart!” #AlexGernandt

Mourad Mesellaty

"It was in a children’s hospital near Cape Town during the South Africa leg of the History Tour in 1997. On that same day, Michael had also visited an orphanage where many of the kids had lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. South Africa clearly touched his heart, as it did mine. During the weeks there, he was even more open and affectionate than usual, had a lot of fun and received a warm welcome everywhere he went. I saw him both before and after the hospital visit but I didn’t want to intrude by going into the wards with him. What happened inside, however, summed up why Michael was a soul of the dearest kind.
He was accompanied by his cinematographer, a wonderful, warm and gentle man named Joe Wilcots, who later recounted the following to me. Michael was being shown through the hospital by doctors and nurses. They were doing the usual things - greeting children on the wards, giving them presents, spending some time with them. Then, they walked along a corridor between wards and there was a separate room with one child in it. Michael asked why the child was alone and what the room was. The doctors told him it was a quarantine room - that they had to restrict who could go in there because the child was seriously ill and they didn’t know what was wrong with him or whether the boy’s illness was contagious.
The doctors carried on walking. Michael hung back, and when they had gone ahead a little, he ducked into the room. All hell broke loose. The doctors and nurses panicked but none of them wanted to follow Michael into the room unprotected. Joe told me that they watched through the window as Michael sat on the bed with the child, spoke to him and kissed him on the forehead. Then Michael just calmly came out of the room and of course the doctors didn’t want to scold him - he was Michael Jackson, after all. But they were clearly anxious.
Afterwards Michael’s cinematographer Joe Wilcots asked Michael why he had done it - what on Earth had he been thinking to take what could have been such a serious risk with his own health. Michael replied very simply: “I wanted to do what the child’s mother would have done, if she was here.” He knew no danger would keep a parent from their child. No risk would stop a mother reaching her child and making sure he knew he was loved.
This has always epitomised, to me, Michael’s relationship with children. He seemed to feel a parent’s love and a parent’s responsibility for every child in the world."

.#MichaelJackson saved the lives of 37,000 children. The Atlanta Project was a vaccination campaign aimed to immunize thousands of children at once and establish a tracking monitoring system for family health care. Michael's presence contributed to 37,000 children being immunized.
As mayor of Atlanta in the early 1980s, Andrew Young had to intercede when Michael Jackson was mistakenly detained by a security guard in the overzealousness of an antique store on Peachtree Street.
''Back then, if you were a young black man dressed in jeans, a leather jacket, sunglasses and asking to see a $2,000 bracelet, you thought you were going to steal something.''
Young sent Atlanta bench president and attorney Marvin Arrington to clarify the situation. The charges were dropped because at the same time Michael's own security guards also arrived at the scene, leaving the store owners embarrassed when they discovered their customer's identity.
Young reflects... ''I'm happy to say that things are very different today with our young rappers. They are welcome in stores as good customers.''
Michael Jackson later went to City Hall to thank him personally.
''He was not bitter … said Young. … he knew it was all part of the price of fame. It was really a class conflict at the time.''
Young has known Michael since he was a child and a member of the Jackson Five.
''Michael was a man of great vision. He was a genius in everything he did. But he paid the price for his genius. When you're prominent and talented, it's so hard to find true love. I think that's why he got along so well with the kids.''
In 2007, Andrew Young and another co-worker flew to Jackson's home in Las Vegas. Michael wanted to discuss a far-reaching business plan that would put artists back in control of their music.
''For most of his life, he had been exploited and manipulated by adults. He wanted to regain that control. His understanding of the music business blew my mind. He was talking about billions of transactions, in dollars.''
Throughout the two-hour meeting, Jackson's children played in the room, around the adults. Young said he was delighted to see the boy he had known in the past, now acting as a father:
''He was a good father. I remember him telling them: Now the playtime is over. It's dinner time .''
Young also recalls that Jackson returned to Atlanta in the early 1990s... ''Michael has always had a big heart. He once arrived in Atlanta at my request and then his and President Jimmy Carter's presence allowed us to immunize about 37,000 preschool children. He was phenomenal.'' - Andrew Jackson Young, Diplomat, American activist and Protestant pastor, who distinguished himself as mayor of Atlanta and US ambassador to the UN.

#StoryOfTheDay...#MichaelJackson awarded by his royal highness Prince Albert of Monaco. Exceptional night...when Michael Jackson made the public cry during his performance in Monaco.
The residents of Monaco have long been accustomed to seeing world’s most popular people on the streets of their small state. Every year, celebrities flock in the Principality: some cannot miss the glamorous race of the Monaco Grand Prix, others come here as part of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, participate in prestigious gala evenings or just enjoy their time aboard luxury yachts.
Although the Principality was never regarded as the capital of music, for more than 10 years the country hosted one of the most remarkable events of the music industry. The most talented and popular musicians were honored at the annual ceremony of World Music Awards, created in 1989 by John Marinotti, one of the residents of Monaco, and held with the support of the Crown Prince, and later Prince of Monaco, Albert II.
For several years, the ceremony has been held at the Salle des Etoiles. The list of WMA winners includes Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin and others.
However, one of the most remarkable ceremonies happened in 1996. What was so special about it ?
May 8, 1996. This year, the Principality hosts the 8th World Music Awards ceremony and the legendary personalities of the music industry are honored here. The event promises to be unforgettable for all those present, because Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Celine Dion will came up on the stage of the Salle des Etoiles.
During the ceremony, which was broadcast in 100 countries in June of the same year, the icon of pop music took five awards! He became the best performer of the year in two music genres, and also received the award for his album Thriller, which would retain the title of the best-selling album of all time in the United States for many years.
The ceremony was marked by the presence of crowned heads. During the ceremony, Prince Albert’s younger sister, Princess Stephanie, noted Jackson’s talent, while the future ruler of Monaco presented to the American singer the award for his album Thriller, which reached more than 500 million sales.
In his speech, the future prince noted the “unflagging” support that Michael Jackson provides to charitable organizations, regardless of the race and religion of people who need help.
After the princely speech, the King of pop performed on stage singing Earth Song with children from Children All Stars. The American magazine Billboard gave a vivid description of the “emotional finale” of the performance. The audience was so amazed, that some guests, including Princess Stephanie, could not hold back tears.

Interview with Michael Jackson in ''Hola Magazine in 1984. "I want my fans, but I fear them." This is the astonishing statement that stands out in Michael's most frank conversation with me. He is adored by millions of people and he actually fears them.
Immagine
“Some of them would do anything to get to you,” he commented. They don't realize that what they're doing can hurt.” “The only place in the world where I feel completely safe, and at peace with myself, is on stage. On stage I feel alive. I can be myself, express my feelings and know that no one is going to touch me and rip me off.” “I want my fans and I want them to know that. People need love. It's the most powerful emotion in the world. It can make you strong, it can heal you and it can support you.”
As she spoke, the young superstar remained standing outside her Tudor-style mansion, home where she lives with her mother, Katherine, her father, Joseph, and her two sisters Janet and Latoya. She wore faded jeans, a Mickey Mouse sweater and her favorite hat, a black felt hat with a narrow brim, and, of course, sunglasses that protect her from the world. She was very serious. He had granted this interview because he wanted his fans to know his feelings and how he is trying to take his huge success. He thinks it's important that his fans know what kind of person he really is. As we talked, his bodyguard, Bill Bray, was with him at all times. Bray was a former Los Angeles Police Officer and has worked for Michael for many years. He is your father, your friend, your brother and your constant companion. It is obvious that you maintain a very strong friendship. Bray's role with Michael seems to be something more than that of a bodyguard. Because he is a very strong personality and Michael rarely speaks or answers a question without first looking at Bray. Michael told me he's been feeling deeply hurt by what the media says about him. “Every time I say something, someone turns it inside out to sell a few more newspapers or magazines,” he explained to me. “This is why I don't say anything else to the press. If I don't say anything, I can't be misunderstood, can I? I hope I can trust you.” Michael told me, “I'm more than the person who comes on stage, where I can express myself musically, and openly, but there's more than a single aspect to my personality. I am a sensitive person, a person with very vulnerable feelings. My best friends all over the world are children and animals. They are the only ones who tell you the truth and love you frankly and without any kind of reservation.” "Adults learned how to hide their feelings and their emotions." Michael continues: “They can lie. They smile in front of you and from behind they are doing you harm. I wish people didn't lie so much and say what they really want to say. Children and animals haven't learned such things and they can't hurt you too much.” Michael played down his burn, but revealed something about his stay at the Burn Center: “When I was there, I would visit the sick and injured children, as I knew I could show them love. I felt especially affectionate towards the children in the hospital and therefore towards all the children. If you don't like a child, she tells you. I believe it's because I can talk to children more easily. I knew it could make them feel better. People in hospital need a lot of love and hope. Maybe being there I could do something good.” “When I was there for the first time, I visited a guy named Keith Perry. He had third-degree burns over 95 percent of his body. He had been in a car accident and was not believed to live. After five months in the hospital, Keith had not had any visits from his friends because they were afraid to see Keith's terrible scars.” Michael and Keith Perry
Immagine
When I went to his room, he commented to me that he was in low esteem and that he no longer wanted to continue. I tried to show him that there were a lot of people who loved him and that life was worth living. If he believed me... I tried to show him love and what love could do. I believe my words cheered him up and gave him hope to fight and win. I also gave him an autographed photograph of me, which was placed on his little table.” I was able to show Michael some photos of Keith, dressed and sitting in a wheelchair at a burn recovery group meeting. When Michael saw them, a big smile crossed his face and tears sprang to his eyes. "I'm so happy - he said Do you know what got Keith back? It was love. Love can achieve anything, it can actually heal. I feel so happy to think that I was part of Keith's recovery process.” Brotman Medical Center is considering calling the Burn Ward Michael Jackson Burn Ward.
When I told him this, Michael commented, “If they do that, I will go over there and do everything I can to help these people. Even if they don't name me, I'll still go. When you're sick, you need warmth, someone to take care of you. I know people want me and I want to be able to give back all that love.” He insisted on showing me the house and gardens, and while he was showing me around, he was almost dancing. At one point he stopped and declared, "I want you to see what I'm building next to my house." It looked like a miniature Disneyland, which when finished will have animated figures of animals, pirates and Abraham Lincoln. “It will be like real people, except they won't try to catch you or ask for favors. This will be my little Disneyland. I feel comfortable among these dolls. They are my personal friends.” He also showed me four swans (two white and two black), plus a royal peacock, which is his favorite bird, he said; he also showed me his llama and his serpent. So we enter the guest house in order to get to know a little more about its animals, which are well kept in large cages on the kitchen table. There were rabbits and birds. His little animals are everywhere and he obviously loves them all. At every step he stopped and talked to the rabbits and birds in the cages. We talked about his fervent faith in Jehovah's Witnesses, but he was willing to make me understand that his being a vegetarian has nothing to do with his religion. This is my private way of life. He has nothing to do with my religion – he explained to me. I'm very religious. I try to take my life in the best way I know. What other people think of my way of life is their problem.” Michael revealed that right now his special adult friend is Paul McCartney. “He always comes to talk to me when he has time and we watch movies and cartoons together. He's a very special person.” For the next few months, Michael Jackson has a very tight schedule. He told me that his brothers and he are finishing up a new album titled Victory and that they are working on an upcoming tour, although he has some doubts about the project. “I wasn't really sure I wanted to do it, but my brothers are so happy with the idea that I couldn't tell them no,” he confessed to me.
Surprisingly, he leaves the interview with the idea that Michael is thinking about resting after the tour. He claims not to have made a decision, but admitted: 'After I'm done, I'll take a break. I'm not saying I'm going to retire, I don't know how to answer that yet. But I believe it deserves a break, I have to do what Michael wants, not what others want me to do.” Michael is a fragile person and his weight ranges between 60 kilos. He's been working a lot this year and I can't help but wonder if he's strong enough to take the strain of touring. Personally, I hope there will be a reconnaissance first. Michael uses his hands gently and leisurely as he talks. He rarely looks in the eyes, even though he was wearing dark glasses. He expresses himself shyly, even when he is happy or excited about any project. He walks with the same swing of his feet that he uses when he finds himself on stage, dancing. It's a step of joy, energy and rhythm. His voice is sweet and his fingers are thin and expressive. But behind all this is the shyness that shows a man in need of love. More than anything else, what Michael needs is love, it is the cornerstone of his success. As the visit drew to a close, I asked Michael if he would like to go out for something to eat. He quickly replied: "I can't get out of here, they would surely grab me." I asked him what he meant by that. He replied: “My fans are waiting for me outside the house. They are on the corner and want to touch me. I know they don't want to hurt me, but they'll do it without knowing it.” The terror in his eyes was authentic as he added, "I just can't get out of here."

Michael Jackson

Michael’s DANGEROUS World Tour ran from June 27, 1992, to November 11, 1993. He played 69 concerts to nearly 4 million people! Did you know that MJ’s goal for the tour was to raise $100 million to aid children and the environment?
“This tour will allow me to devote time to visiting children all around the world, as well as spread the message of global love, in the hope that others will be moved to do their share to help heal the world.” - Michael Jackson

" Dave Dave... The boy used to be called David Rothenberg but he changed his name to free himself from his father’s name and criminality, as he put it, after his father had committed an abominable crime – he doused him with kerosene when the boy was asleep, set him on fire and burned 90 per cent of virtually all his six-year-old body. This was in 1983. Michael befriended Dave and though he didn’t pay for his surgeries as his mother had an insurance which covered all medical bills, he offered the boy enormous emotional support for the next 30 years. Dave Dave went to Michael’s funeral and spoke of their friendship there...
“He heard about me and contacted me. He wanted to meet me. I was about 7 years old at the time. He befriended me. He took me into his life. He opened up his arms to me and accepted me as a very good friend of his. And throughout the years he never let me go. Michael was like a father to me”. "It was quite an amazing experience. There was a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and there was Michael. Our relationship started with a hug. A hug that never ended throughout the years." "Michael Jackson was like a father figure for me. He gave me a lot of advice, he showed me a lot of things about the world. He really was a source of emotional support for me."
"He has been my friend throughout everything that I’ve been through. And he’s my only friend that I can say that’s been there for me always. He’s really had an impact on my life – not because he is a celebrity. Because he’s been through a kind of the same thing as I’ve been through." “He was a great person. He never hurt a soul and I’m happy to have been his friend all these years. Michael offered a lot of emotional support for me. Michael was there for me whenever I needed to talk to him. He opened up Neverland to me as a means to get away. Metaphorically he was always like a father that I never had." “I believe what people fail to realize is that Michael was a human being. Throughout the years he was kind of stigmatized by the media”. "I believe I lost a Person in my life but at the same time I gained a lot of knowledge."

Michael and Sir Barry Gibb in the recording room.
Gorgeous tune...
20th December 2002
Michael and Barry Gibb, member of the Bee Gees, wrote and recorded ′′ All in Your Name ", which was originally said to be called ′′ Prayer for Peace ". The song leaked to the media two years after Michael's death, the June 25, 2011. The duo met in Miami, Florida, on December 20 to work on the charity track. Barry said the song was written to protest U.S. plans to invade Iraq. The Iraq war eventually broke out as a military campaign against ′′ the terrorists ′′ on March 20, 2003.

October 15, 1987. Following his visit to Osaka Castle
2 days ago, #MichaelJackson attended, accompanied by 3 people from UNESCO, a visit to the Nissan Motor plant in Oppama, a few kilometers from Yokosuka, in Kanagawa Prefecture (Tokyo Bay), located about an hour south of Tokyo.
For about 40 minutes, the singer visits the oldest of the three factories the carmaker owns in Japan, also chosen because it is one of the most automated, and watches the body assembly robot coming from the ceiling, listening to the instructions of one of the managers. "It's like a roller coaster," exclaims the star.
About 50 people from the factory are there to welcome Michael, with applause, but a fundraising campaign among the 7,000 employees donated 200,000 yen (about 1500 euros) to UNESCO, in favor of the eradication of illiteracy. Michael also made a donation to cooperate in this effort.
The factory gave Michael a gift, a white Bluebird SSS Attesa, Nissan's most internationally recognized sedan known for its reliability and durability. During the ceremony, he is given a huge gold key.
Embarrassed, Michael admits that he does not drive well, but finding the car "beautiful", nevertheless takes the pose behind the wheel and leaves his autograph "Love, Michael Jackson", on the hood.
Michael Jackson left the factory around 3:30 pm expressing his desire to get a book on the history of the Nissan brand.
After his visit to the Nissan factory, Michael Jackson went to this town in Sagami Bay to have dinner in the restaurant of the Otowa No Mori hotel, about 30 minutes away from Oppama, where the factory is located. A tourist resort, home of the Hayama Imperial Villa.
Opened just in 1987, hotel is located by the sea and the terrace of Shiosai restaurant, where Michael and his guests (including Bill Bray and Japanese coordinator) sat on the second floor, offered an exceptional view of the sea-ocean. Although it was raining on the day of Michael's visit.
The stop on this Japanese "French Riviera" was decided the day before but Michael insisted that his personal chef accompany the restaurant chef in the composition of the vegetarian menu.
Japanese actress and singer, Yoku Asano, having heard about Michael Jackson's presence in the restaurant, showed up with a bouquet of flowers and met the star who, invited her to his table.
Michael thanked her by kissing her on the cheek and inviting her to visit him when he is in Los Angeles.
During the dinner, background music played on the piano, mostly Mozart, and Michael clapped at the end of each piece.
Michael left the restaurant around 8pm and returned to the Capitol, the hotel where he was staying in Tokyo.
Two weeks later, the owner of the restaurant received a letter from Michael Jackson thanking him for his hospitality.
Michael took time to rest and enjoy his stay in Japan before leaving the country for his next destination in China.
