Joe Jackson, 88, has been hospitalized with stage four pancreatic cancer, DailyMail.com can reveal.

The patriarch has been struck by the terminal illness and has been ailing for months. Now it's feared he has just days left to live.

He has been at the center of a bizarre row over access to him by family members, DailyMail.com exclusively revealed on Wednesday.

As his famous family clambered to be by the bedside of the sickly father-of-eleven, Joe's handlers allegedly barred senior family members from visiting him, including his wife Katherine and daughter Rebbie.

For four days, his sons and daughters were locked in heated discussions, unsure what was going on and pleading to see him.

DailyMail.com has now learned that following an emergency Jackson family meeting and desperate pleas to Joe's manager, Charles Coupet, family members were finally granted access to the octogenarian on Tuesday night.
Coupet has not responded to DailyMail.com's requests for comment.

But DailyMail.com has learned that Joe himself had given verbal instructions making clear he didn't want visitors or family members to see him or his medical records

It's understood Katherine, daughters Rebbie and Joh'Vonnie and granddaughter Yashi Brown, did visit with the patriarch in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday.

The visit came following a tense stand off during which the Jackson family struggled to gain medical information about, and access to, Joe.

Joe's son Jermaine confirmed the odd situation when approached by DailyMail.com.

'No one knew what was going on - we shouldn't have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this,' he said. 'We have been hurting.

'We were not being told where he was and couldn't get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.'

Jermaine, 63, added 'He's very very frail, he doesn't have long. The family needs to be by his bedside - that's our only intention in his final days.
'It's what any family would want, but some people around him think they know better...and they don't.'

Talent manager Joe, who guided his children to unprecedented showbiz success as The Jackson 5, is understood to suffer from a form of dementia and has suffered several strokes in recent years.

A source close to Joe's daughter, superstar singer Janet Jackson, confirmed that she too had been denied access to see her father in recent days.

And Joe's other daughter Joh'Vonnie Jackson - the product of an extra-marital affair - had also been barred from seeing her dad despite being very close to him and living nearby in Vegas, the source claims.

It's understood Katherine and daughter Rebbie had last visited Joe at his Vegas home last week after learning his health had deteriorated.
But after the brief visit the women spent a night in a nearby hotel before returning to discover Joe had been moved from his home.

DailyMail.com has learned that Joe himself had given verbal instructions - which exist on a phone recording - making clear he didn't want visitors or anyone from the family to see him or his medical records.

Part of the recording was overheard by some family members.

A source close to Joe's daughter, superstar singer Janet Jackson, confirmed that she too had been denied access to see her father in recent days

How that recording was obtained is not clear, but one source close to the camp said: 'The people around Joe Jackson are the people who have been there for him in his everyday life.

'They are acting in his interests and no one else's.

'The Jackson family doesn't have the capacity to deal with this on its own, so certain people are taking charge of the situation.

'It's delicate... and not as black and white as people are making out.

'The Jacksons are now in dialogue with the people looking after Joe, and they are being kept informed.'

One family member said: 'If it's true there was verbal instructions from Joseph, we'd like to know how that instruction was obtained.
He's a proud man who is all about image - was he saying he doesn't want anyone to see him like that, or was he saying he doesn't want family near him?

'Something is not right about this, and the family wants to have guarantees that they will continue to have access. I can't believe we're even having to say that.'

'It's beautiful, it's humbling to be recognized as someone that has had a positive impact,' she said as she received the award, according to People.

'But if I have been fortunate enough to impact others it is only because I, myself, have been greatly impacted by positive people in my life,' Janet said in her speech.
'My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable, my father, my incredible father, drove me to be the best that I can.'

'My siblings set an incredibly high standard for artistic excellence… Sometimes, having an impact can be as simple as a smile, a handshake, or a hug.'

Joe Jackson passed away on Wednesday at the age of 89.

The patriarch was the driving force behind the hit 1970s band The Jackson Five as well as the man who helped shape the image of his son Michael Jackson and his daughter Janet - both who turned into global superstars.

Soon after news broke that Joe had died from pancreatic cancer, Michael's daughter Paris, 20, took to Instagram to share a touching tribute to her grandfather, and reveal she made him 'promise' he would visit her as a ghost before his passing.

Paris posted a picture on her Instagram account of her hand holding Joe's hand in a hospital bed.

She captioned it: 'Spending those last few moments with you were everything. being able to tell you everything i needed to tell you before saying goodbye was such a blessing. everyone that came to visit you, came with love, respect, and so much pride in their hearts for you.
'you are the first true jackson. the legend that started it all. none of us would be anywhere near where we’re at if it weren’t for you. you are the strongest man i know. your life’s work will go down in history, as will you, to be known as one of the greatest patriarchs to ever live.

'i will cherish every moment with you til the day i die, especially our last moments. being able to hold your hand, lay with you and cuddle you, give you kisses all over your cheeks and forehead, meant more to me than you’ll ever know.

'quoting advice you gave me when i was a little kid and seeing your eyes light up, sharing stories my dad used to tell me about you, telling a joke and hearing you laugh for the last time.. my heart is full knowing we left each other in that way.

Speaking candidly about the promise her beloved grandfather had made before his passing, she wrote: 'i made you promise me you’ll come visit me. you agreed and i’m going to hold you to it. and i promised you that we will keep telling your story, over and over.

'to never be forgotten. my great grandchildren will know who joseph jackson is. i love you grandpa. so so so much that words can’t describe.'

'i have immense gratitude for you, and always will. we all feel that way. thank you for everything. truly. rest in peace and transition. i’ll see you in my dreams very very soon.'

Paris' father Michael - who had the monster hits Thriller, Beat It and The Man In The Mirror - died on June 25, 2009.

After his shock passing, Prince went to live with his grandmother Katherine along with Paris and Blanket.

He also spent plenty of time with Joe.

Joe's other famous daughter, La Toya Jackson, shared a tweet about her father.

'I will always love you!' she wrote. 'You gave us strength, you made us one of the most famous families in the world.

'I am extremely appreciative of that, I will never forget our moments together and how you told me how much you cared. #RIP Joe Jackson.'

Joe's grandson, Taj Jackson (his father is Toriano 'Tito' Jackson), hit out at trolls online.

When the kids were younger they wore masks; seen in 2009

'Disgusted by some of the comments I'm reading about my grandpa Joe by those who didn't even know him,' Taj wrote. 'Please don't just regurgitate what you were spoon fed by the press. Joe was loved by our ENTIRE family and our hearts are in pain. Let us grieve without the nastiness.#ripthehawk.'

A family source tells DailyMail.com that Jackson, who had his wife Katherine by his side when he passed away, faded into unconsciousness on Tuesday.

Katherine made the decision to move Jackson into hospice care over the weekend as his health began to rapidly decline.

The patriarch of the Jackson family had voiced his desire to hold on through Monday said the family source, which marked the ninth anniversary of his son's death.
Jackson and his wife had been living apart for the past few years following a tumultuous 69-year relationship during which Jackson fathered a love child, had multiple affairs and was accused of abusing the couple's children.

Jackson had been ailing for months, but took a turn for the worse in the past two weeks according to sources close to the family.

His famous family all clambered to be by the bedside of the sickly father-of-eleven, but Jackson's handlers allegedly barred senior family members from visiting him, including his wife Katherine and oldest child Rebbie.

For four days, his sons and daughters were locked in heated discussions, unsure what was going on and pleading to see their father.

DailyMail.com later learned that following an emergency Jackson family meeting and desperate pleas to Jackson's manager, Charles Coupet, family members were finally granted access to the octogenarian last Tuesday night.

It is understood that he suffered from a form of dementia and had suffered several strokes in recent years.

Katherine, daughters Rebbie and Joh'Vonnie and granddaughter Yashi Brown were among those who visited with Jackson in his final days.

At the same time, the Jackson family struggled to gain medical information about the dying man.

A source close to Joe's daughter Janet confirmed that she too had been denied access to see her father in recent days.
And Joe's other daughter Joh'Vonnie Jackson - the product of an extra-marital affair - had also been barred from seeing her dad despite being very close to him and living nearby in Vegas claimed the source.

Jackson's son Jermaine confirmed the odd situation when approached by DailyMail.com.

'No one knew what was going on - we shouldn't have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this,' he said.
'We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn't get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.'

Jermaine, 63, added at the time: 'He's very very frail, he doesn't have long. The family needs to be by his bedside - that's our only intention in his final days.

'It's what any family would want, but some people around him think they know better...and they don't.'
Jackson guided his children to unprecedented success as The Jackson 5 after his own attempt at stardom did not pan out with his band The Falcons.

Prior to that, Jackson had attempted to forge a career as a professional boxer after his 1949 wedding to Katherine.

He was born Fountain Hill, Arkansas just one year before The Great Depression to Samuel Jackson, a university professor who was the son of a slave.

He was the oldest of five children, and at the age of 12 moved to California with his father when his parents split.

His mother and other four siblings all moved to Chicago, with Jackson later joining them at the age of 18 when his father remarried.

That is when he began to pursue boxing, having dropped out of high school, and was briefly married to another woman before divorcing her and then pursuing a relationship with Katherine Scruse.
The two married soon after and he got a job at Inland Steel as a crane operator.

One year later, the couple had their first of 10 children, daughter Rebbie.

In was in the early 1960s that he began to create what would become the Jackson 5, which initially consisted of his three eldest sons: Jackie, Tito and Jermaine.

The boys were known as The Jackson Brothers and forced to spend most of their free time practicing as Jackson demanded perfection.

The group then became the Jackson 5 when Marlon and Michael joined a backup singers.

All that practice did pay off however, and the group found success on the road before drawing the attention of Gordon Keith, who released the group's first single in 1968 with Michael as the lead singer.

That was the beginning of the group's ascent, which all culminated with the boys being signed to Motown Records and the release of their first album, Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5.

Family man: Jackson himself had given verbal instructions making clear he did not want visitors or family members to see him or his medical records in his final weeks (Jackson with his sons in 1970)

The support of that A-list singing star catapulted the group, whose hits included ABC, I'll Be There and I Want You Back.

By that time the family was living in California, and after six years with Motown the boys signed an even more lucrative deal with Epic while Jackson began to send his three daughters Rebbie, Janet and LaToya out on the road to perform.

Janet's ascent began in 1982, and for the next two decades she was a fixture on the pop charts alongside her brother Michael, who had gone solo by that point.

At the same time, Jackson's reputation began to tarnish as details of his abhorrent behavior towards his children and extramarital affairs began to emerge.

It was also revealed that Katherine had filed for divorce in 1973 because of her husband's infidelity but later withdrew those papers.

One year later he welcomed his eleventh child, Joh'Vonnie, with his mistress Cheryl Terrell.

Jackson and Terrell went on to have a relationship for 25 years, and in 1982 Katherine once again filed fir divorce before once again deciding to opt out of the proceedings at the last second.

In 2002 he was also inducted into the Rock and Hall of Fame as the Best Entertainment Manager of All Time.

Joe Jackson, Father and Early Manager of the Jackson Family, Dies at 89: Report

Joe Jackson, father and early manager of the Jacksons, has died at age 89 on Wednesday (June 27) morning after a battle with cancer, according to TMZ.
The Jackson family patriarch was born in 1928 and married wife Katherine in 1949. He went on to have 11 children.
As a manager, Jackson launched the career of son Michael Jackson -- along with Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito -- out of Gary, Ind., as the Jackson 5 in the 1960s. The Jackson 5 signed with Berry Gordy's Motown Records, and in 1970, their first three singles ("I Want You Back," "ABC" and "The Love You Save") all went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Son Jermaine Jackson tweeted about his father's health on June 21. "My father's health is not good, but 'dying' is a harsh word chosen by headline writers, not me," he wrote at the time. "For however long he has left, my mother, siblings, and relatives want to be with him, without hindrance."
But on June 24, a more ominous update was posted on Joe Jackson's Twitter page: "I have seen more sunsets than I have left to see. The sun rises when the time comes and whether you like it or not the sun sets when the time comes."

Daughter Janet Jackson spoke of her father on June 22 in a speech at the Radio Disney Music Awards in Hollywood, where she was honored with the Impact Award, now known as the Janet Jackson Award.
“It’s beautiful, it’s humbling to be recognized as someone that has had a positive impact, but if I have been fortunate enough to impact others it is only because I, myself, have been greatly impacted by positive people in my life,” she said. “My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable. My father, my incredible father, drove me to be the best that I can."
Jackson suffered a stroke while visiting Brazil in 2015 and was again hospitalizedafter a car he was riding in was involved in an accident in Las Vegas in 2017.
Although Jackson was known for his iron-fisted management of his children, in 2002, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honored him as Best Entertainment Manager of All Time.
"I'm glad I was tough, because look what I came out with," Jackson said in an interview in 2013. "I came out with some kids that everybody loved all over the world. And they treated everybody right."

R.I.P. Joseph ‘Joe’ Jackson

Joseph "Joe" Jackson, the patriarch who launched the musical Jackson family dynasty, died Wednesday in a Las Vegas hospital, a source close to the family tells CNN.

He was 89.

Jackson was the father and at times manager to pop stars Michael and Janet Jackson, along with the sibling-singing group, The Jackson 5.

The elder Jackson's death came two days after the ninth anniversary of the death of his son, Michael.

He and Katherine Jackson wed in 1949. They moved into into a home on Jackson Street in Gary, Indiana, the following year, where they welcomed their first of 10 children, Maureen "Rebbie" Jackson.

Rebbie was followed by Sigmund "Jackie" Jackson in 1951, Toriano "Tito" Jackson in 1953, Jermaine Jackson in 1954, La Toya Jackson in 1956, Marlon Jackson in 1957, Michael Jackson in 1958, Steven Randall "Randy" Jackson in 1961 and Janet Jackson in 1966.

Marlon's twin, Brandon, died soon after birth.

With a large family to support, Joe Jackson surrendered his dreams of becoming a boxer and secured a job as a crane operator for U.S. Steel.

He and his brother Luther also formed a band in the mid-1950s called The Falcons, intent on booking gigs for extra money.

The band only lasted a few years, but Jackson had developed an ear for music and believed he had found some talent in his children. He formed The Jackson Brothers in 1963 -- with sons Tito, Jackie and Jermaine -- and began entering them in local talent shows. With the addition of Marlon and Michael, The Jackson 5 was born in 1966. Two years later, they signed with Motown Records.

They went on to become one of the most successful R&B groups in history, with their father initially acting as their manager.

At the height of their stardom, The Jackson 5 sold millions of records and had their own CBS variety show.

"Joseph's role as manager dwindled however as Motown CEO Berry Gordy began to take more charge on his act, a role that reverted back to Joseph when he began managing the entire family for performances in Las Vegas," according to Jackson's official site. "Joseph also helped his sons seal a deal with CBS after leaving Motown."

The success of The Jackson 5 led to Michael Jackson going solo, becoming such a major star that he was later dubbed the King of Pop. Youngest daughter Janet also became a hugely successful recording artist.

The elder Jackson managed daughters Rebbie, La Toya, and Janet in the early 1980s until they, like their brothers before, struck out on their own.

Joe Jackson was criticized at times for being a harsh task master. His children told stories about their father being hard on them growing up.

In 2013 interview with CNN, Jackson was asked about his daughter Janet's complaint that the children were not allowed to call him "Dad," instead referring to him as "Joe."

"You had all those kids running hollering around," Jackson said. "They're hollering, 'Dad, Dad, Dad,' you know, and it gets to be -- it sounds kind of funny to me. But I didn't care too much about what they called me, just as long as they (were) able to listen to me and what I had to tell them, you know, in order to make their lives successful. This was the main thing."

Jackson admitted that he disciplined his children physically but said he had no regrets.

Joe Jackson on physically disciplining his kids: 'I'm glad I was tough'
"I'm glad I was tough, because look what I came out with," he said. "I came out with some kids that everybody loved all over the world. And they treated everybody right."

Jackson also weathered some controversy after his wife documented his alleged extramarital affairs in her book, "My Family, The Jacksons."

The couple split more than once and lived apart for decades, but they reportedly never divorced.

The couple presented a united front when their son Michael died in 2009 from an overdose of Propofol.

The elder Jackson told CNN his son had tried to reach him before his death, but they didn't connect.

"He says, 'Call my father.' This was before he passed. 'He would know how to get me out of this,'" Joe Jackson said. "But they didn't get in touch with me. They said they couldn't find me, but I was right there."

Just this past weekend, Janet Jackson hailed her father during an acceptance speech at a Radio Disney awards ceremony.

Janet Jackson thanks reportedly ailing father

"My mother nourished me with the most extravagant love imaginable," she said. "My father, my incredible father drove me to be the best I can. My siblings set an incredibly high standard, a high bar for artistic excellence."

Prince Jackson Has Serious Words For Anyone Dissing Grandfather, Joe Jackson
Prince Jackson has a message for those hating on his grandfather.

Joe Jackon passed away earlier this week after a terminal cancer diagnosis. The father of the late Michael Jackson was the man who started the careers of the Jackson family, managing them into mega-success and is to be credited for their legacy that lives on today. Unfortunately, there are some dark accusations against Joe that has tainted his own legacy as previous reports say he physically abused Michael and his brothers as well as allegedly sexually abusing his daughters.

For 21-year-old Prince Jackson (Michael's son) he doesn't care about Joe's past and he wants you to put some respect on his grandfather's name. In a new video of Prince, he tells viewers he'll soon be uploading a full explanation of his feels on YouTube but in the meantime, keep talking. "Y'all can keep talking all the shit you want saying he abused my dad and all this," he says in the video below. "But he raised these kids right, otherwise they would have been in gangs or fucking dead."
Adding: "So go ahead, keep talking shit but you won't ever be as great as one of that mans fucking balls in his nuts - just remember that."

A Thank you and farewell from Management
by Angel Howansky on June 28, 2018

Our final post from the management of the late Joseph Jackson. A kinder, gentler and truthful friend in his later years, you could not ask for. With his quick smile and contagious laughter, he spent the last years of his life, living as he wanted, a free spirit, a leo in the wild. A special thanks to some of the many people who were instrumental in his later life:
Immagine
Charles Gael Coupet, who treated him as the father he never had. In later years goals are not meant to be reached but serve simply as something to aim at. He created a plethora of them to keep him active: Going to the Vegas swap meet, traveling on cruises, eating endless lunches, getting lost intentionally with wrong directions to create an adventure out of a car trip, attending red carpets, award ceremonies, cinemas, and countless trips to home depot for house improvement pet projects. He did this almost every single day for three years in an effort to prevent him from wasting away in front of a TV screen.
Immagine
Jasmin Jones, his wonderful assistant, who met him during a random Las Vegas accident. And unbeknownst to her, helped this old gentleman unconditionally, staying by his side until the ambulance arrived. She proceeded to work for him, dedicating the last two years by his side, sacrificing thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter holidays to make sure Mr. Jackson never spent them alone. We thank your family for their understanding.
Immagine
To the Estate of Michael Jackson, Howard Weitzman, John Branca and John McClain, who had the fortitude to see past Mr. Jackson’s earlier statements, and without question, came to his rescue. They covered all his health costs, flying him back to the US from Brazil and continued to provide the best care for him possible, without which he would have long since departed from us.
Immagine
To his Medical staff: Dr. Wafaa Alrashid, Dr. Tammara Beeghly, Dr. Darville Knowles and Dentist Dr. Jennifer Cha, Thank you ! Shannon Jones, RN (Registered Nurse), for going beyond the call of duty, nursing Mr. Jackson back to health after his stroke in Brazil and continuing her proactive service over the years by making multiple trips from Los Angeles to Las Vegas just to check on him.

Friends: Juliana and her husband Brian Rast of Las Vegas, for not only organizing his 87th birthday celebration at their private residence, allowing all invited guests to come, eat, drink and enjoy everything for free but also covering all expenses unconditionally. Odie and Sharron Anderson of Chicago, for hosting his 89th birthday party in a like fashion at their private residence. Richard Nilsson (who stood by his side during his Brazil health scare, sleeping on the floor of the hospital throughout the whole ordeal), Madame Thao, Dieter Wiesner, Fabian Vincent, Paul Padda, Ralf Sesselberg, Solange Ghonda , Simon Sahouri , John Taylor.

To the Premsrirut family, Joe’s extended family in Las Vegas! Thank you for opening up your lives and home to him. It meant a lot to him to count you all as family. Janet Smith, for, always providing a liaison to his family, going out of her way to make certain he was able to reconnect with his brother Lawrence, weeks before he passed.
Immagine
Patricia Diaz (caregiver), who provided caring services for Mr. Jackson up until the last week when he was taken to the hospital. Your dedication to this man, whom you treated as if he was your father, was unparalleled. He confided in you stuff he would not even tell the medics, because of the incredible bound you built. We will forever be thankful for your services.

General Staff: Geneva Santiago (Masseur), Mayberry Maids (cleaners) , Lerisa Smith (cook), At your service home care, Thank you.

Last and most important of all, to his wife Katherine Jackson, who stood steadfast by his side, wanting only what was best for her husband, providing for him indirectly during many lean years without his knowledge. In all things of life, words run miles but actions run marathons. Hers produced interludes in a melody so vast and eternal that human ears could never appreciate the tonal range of the symphony.

“It is what it is; it ain’t what it ain’t and it ain’t what it could be.” … Joseph Jackson

To our dear friend, rest in peace, you will be missed.

NEWS from Entertainment Tonight
Joe Jackson To Be Remembered With Public and Private Memorial Services
By Brian Haas‍ 7:58 PM PDT, July 1, 2018
Arrangements are being made for two different services to remember the late Joe Jackson.

A Jackson family source told ET on Sunday that there will be two services for Jackson on Monday, July 2. According to the source, there will be one public service and one private service and both will take place in Los Angeles.

Locations and times for the services have not yet been disclosed.

Jackson died at age 89 on June 27 after a battle with cancer, leaving behind a complicated legacy as the patriarch of perhaps the most famous music family in modern history. As father to Michael and Janet Jackson, he helped influence two of the biggest pop stars in music history, not to mention the nine other Jackson kids who saw varying success in music. And yet, he reportedly physically abused his children as he molded them into world-class musicians, even admitting he used a strap on his children, saying, "It kept them out of jail and kept them right."

Still, following his death, Jackson was remembered fondly by his children and grandchildren for his strength and musical legacy.

"You are the strongest man i know. your life’s work will go down in history, as will you, to be known as one of the greatest patriarchs to ever live," Paris Jackson wrote of her grandfather. "I will cherish every moment with you til the day i die, especially our last moments."

Joe Jackson buried in same LA-area cemetery as son Michael

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jackson family patriarch Joseph Jackson has been buried in the same Southern California cemetery as his late son Michael.

A source close to the family who is not authorized to speak publicly said Joe Jackson was laid to rest Monday in a private ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

Jackson died Wednesday in Las Vegas at age 89 and is survived by wife Katherine, eight children and dozens of grandchildren.

Eldest son Jackie Jackson posted a photo of himself on Instagram Monday afternoon in a black suit and sunglasses while dressing one of his young twin sons in a similar suit.

Michael Jackson was entombed in 2009 in the mausoleum at the opulent cemetery that is also the final resting place of Elizabeth Taylor and Walt Disney.

Janet Jackson Mourns Dad Joe At Private Funeral
Janet Jackson was spotted sweetly cradling her son at her father Joe Jackson’s funeral on July 2.

After Joe Jackson’s tragic death on June 27, his family and loved ones gathered at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, CA for his funeral on July 2. As expected, Janet Jackson was there to pay her respects and say farewell to her father one last time. With Janet was her 1-year-old son Eissa Al Mana, whom she shares with her ex-husband Wissam Al Mana. She was photographed cradling her baby while outside what appears to be a church, surrounded by mourners and black car.

The service was reportedly private, and a public one will be held within the next couple of days. And while the Jackson family is grieving over the loss of their patriarch, not everyone is rushing to say goodbye. Interestingly, a number of celebrities including Bruno Mars and Jay-Z turned down the invitation to attend today’s service, according to Radar Online. “The list is very long of those who said they can’t make it,” a source told the outlet. Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli, Quincy Jones, Celine Dion, and Paul McCartney were also listed as no-shows.

Nevertheless, our thoughts go out to the Jackson family during this difficult time. As we previously told you, Joe died after a hard-fought battle with cancer. In total he was the father of 11 children: Maureen Jackson, Sigmund Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Randy Jackson, Janet Jackson, Joh’Vonnie Jackson, and of course Michael. Making Joe’s death even more devastating, he passed just two days after Michael’s death anniversary. Joe is also survived by his wife Katherine Jackson, who he married in 1949. His legacy will live on forever.

Joe Jackson's Public Memorial Service Announced

By Daniel S. Levine - July 2, 2018
The Jackson family has scheduled public and private memorials for Joe Jackson, the family patriarch who died on June 27 at age 89.

A source close to the family told Entertainment Tonight that the two separate services will be held on Monday in Los Angeles. Other details, including the location for the public ceremony and when it will start, where not announced.
Jackson died after a long battle with cancer.

"We mourn the loss of our father and celebrate the life of a man who sacrificed so much to give us the life and success we have today," the Jackson family said in a statement.

Jackson helped guide his children to success, first with the Jackson 5's string of '70s hits at Motown. He then saw son Michael Jackson break out to start his own successful solo career. Later, daughter Janet Jackson did the same. However, he was a controversial figure who physically abused his children, which was referenced in a statement released by the Michael Jackson estate.

"Joe was a strong man who acknowledged his own imperfections and heroically delivered his sons and daughters from the steel mills of Gary, Indiana to worldwide pop superstardom," the Michael Jackson estate said.
The statement continued, "Mr. Jackson’s contributions to the history of music are enormous. They were acknowledged by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 in a proclamation naming him as Best Entertainment Manager of All Time; he was inducted into Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 2014 and his son Michael acknowledged him with a Joe Jackson Day at Neverland."

Jackson's other children also fondly remembered their father. La Toya Jackson said she is "extremely appreciative" of the strength he gave his children, making them "one of the most famous families in the world."

Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson's daughter, shared a photo of her holding her grandfather's hand during a hospital visit.

"Spending those last few moments with you were everything," Paris, 20, wrote. "Being able to tell you everything I needed to tell you before saying goodbye was such a blessing. Everyone that came to visit you, came with love, respect and so much pride in their hearts for you. Proud of you, proud to be your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proud to have your strength and share the dynasty you spent your life creating and proud to be a Jackson."

Jackson is survived by his wife, Katherine Jackson, 88, and eight children. Jackson is also survived by a daughter, Joh'Vonnie Jackson, whose mother is Cheryl Terrell, as well as several grandchildren.

In her statement, Paris promised to continue the Jackson family legacy and make sure his story is not forgotten.
"My great grandchildren will know who Joseph Jackson is. I love you grandpa. So so so much that words can’t describe. I have immense gratitude for you, and always will," Paris wrote. "We all feel that way. Thank you for everything. Truly. Rest in peace and transition. I’ll see you in my dreams very very soon."

Joe Jackson was laid to rest on Monday, according to multiple reports.

The Jackson patriarch was honored with a private service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., that was attended by family and close friends. It’s the same cemetery where his son Michael Jackson is entombed. In photos obtained by TMZ, Janet Jackson is pictured at the funeral dressed in black.
Joe’s children and grandchildren — many of whom have publicly posted tributes to the family patriarch — paid their last respects at his gravesite. Joe’s eldest son, Jackie, shared a photo of himself and his son on Instagram Monday afternoon in black suits.

Prince Jackson, Michael’s youngest son, shared on his Instagram Story on Sunday that he was on his way back to L.A.

Joe passed away at age 89 on June 27 after battling cancer (it has been reported, but unconfirmed, that it was pancreatic).

The legacy Joe leaves behind is a controversial one. The architect of the Jackson 5, Joe launched a musical dynasty, taking his family from blue-collar to legendary. However, he was both physically and mentally abusive to his children on their rise to fame. His most complicated relationship was with Michael. The “Thriller” singer infamously fired his father as his manager and cut him out of his will. Exactly where Joe will be laid to rest in relation to his son is unknown.

The private funeral is the first of two services planned; a public one is expected in the near future.

Family Luncheon
After Private Funeral

The Jackson family was reunited again following the funeral for their late patriarch, Joe Jackson, which included his kids, grandchildren ... and his wife, Katherine.

A ton of the immediate and extended Jackson troupe were in attendance for a luncheon Monday after Joe's private service at Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA. It's the same cemetery where Michael Jackson was entombed.

Of the famous Jacksons who showed face ... Janet Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Rebbie Jackson, Michael's youngest son Blanket, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, his lifelong partner Katherine ... with whom he had a strained relationship in the last years of his life.

Stevie Wonder also made an appearance.

RIP

Michael Jackson’s Doc, Conrad Murray, Hopes Joe Jackson ‘Finds Redemption in Hell’
https://theblast.com/conrad-murray-mich ... e-jackson/
Conrad Murray, the infamous doctor who was jailed for the death of Michael Jackson, says MJ’s dad Joe was one of the worst fathers of all time and hopes the recently buried patriarch is finding “redemption in hell.”

In a video obtained by The Blast, Murray unloads on the legacy of Joe Jackson, calling him “one of the worst fathers to his children in history.”

Murray explains that during his time caring for Michael, he was told of the “many sufferings at the hands of his father,” and claims the stories were horrifying.

In particular, the doc addressed the theories that MJ was allegedly chemically castrated as a child via hormone injections to delay puberty and maintain his high-pitched voice. Murray puts the blame for the alleged procedure squarely on Joe, and says it is “beyond words.”

Michael Jackson was under the care of Murray at the time of his passing in 2009. The doctor was subsequently convicted of involuntary manslaughter and served two years in prison for administering the lethal dose of the powerful anesthetic, propofol, that killed the pop star. In 2010 Joe Jackson filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Murray but later dropped the case.

Even though the Estate of Michael Jackson claimed to have mended their relationship with Joe prior to his death on June 27th, Michael was not so forgiving and reportedly told many of his closest friends how much he loathed his father. In fact, it was discovered after his death that Joe was specifically written out of The King of Pop’s will.

MJ’s kids apparently didn’t have the same experience with their grandfather, as evidenced by Paris Jackson‘s touching tribute to her grandfather after his passing, and Prince Jackson‘s colorful defense of Joe’s legacy.

Murray, however, definitely has not changed his feelings on Joe, proclaiming “It is said that only the good die young … I hope Joe Jackson finds redemption in hell.”

As we reported, Jackson was buried near Michael’s crypt at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale last week in a private service attended by family and friends.

Cannot believe this clown was asked to make any kind of statement about the family!!! :???:

Michael Jackson's brother Tito says dad's tough love saved them from life of crime - but 'pop superstar never got worst of it'
https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebri...tough-12867924

EXCLUSIVE: Speaking in the first family interview since Joe’s death two weeks ago, Michael’s brother Tito admits their dad whipped them with his belt, but insists he was “the best father in the world”

Michael Jackson will for ever be remembered for the musical masterpieces and dazzling footwork that led to him being crowned the King of Pop.

But the tortured, tragic star will also be remembered for his harrowing claims about childhood abuse suffered at the hands of domineering father Joe.

Over the years, the Jackson family patriarch was rocked by claims he drove his children to pop stardom with a brutal regime of beatings and emotional cruelty.

Now, speaking in the first family interview since Joe’s death two weeks ago, Michael’s brother Tito admits their dad whipped them with his belt.

But he insists he was “the best father in the world” and did a “terrific job”, crediting his tough love approach with saving him and his brothers from lives of crime.

He also says that contrary to what Michael claimed, Joe never subjected his little brother to severe punishment and there was no bad blood.

In fact, Tito is adamant Michael and Joe will be getting on like a house on fire now they are back together in heaven.

Wiping away tears, the 64-year-old says: “My dad will be so happy to be reunited with Michael in heaven. They are having fun right now.

“He will probably be trying to get new music from Michael.”

Joe died aged 89 after a battle with cancer and had chosen to be buried next to Michael at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

“That’s what he wanted,” says Tito. “Michael made peace with my dad. There has always been peace.”

Joe’s success as an entertainment manager is undeniable, having developed and guided the Jackson 5 and then the solo careers of Janet and Michael.

But in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Michael had claimed he lived in fear of his father his whole life. Some 90 million people saw him explain how afraid he was of him, stating: “There’s been times when he’d come to see me, I’d get sick, I’d start to regurgitate.”

He said Joe beat him, adding: “He saw me, he wanted me ... I guess I don’t know if I was his golden child or whatever, some may call it a strict disciplinarian, but he was very strict, very hard, very stern. Just a look would scare you.”

Joe’s cruel teasing included calling Michael “Big Nose”, sparking his lifelong obsession with plastic surgery.

But Tito insists Michael never got the worst of it, saying: “Are you guys kidding me? I don’t think Michael got it. Michael was so quick, my father couldn’t even catch him.

“My father would swing his belt and the next thing Michael is under the bed.

“He was really quick. My father tried to catch him so much he couldn’t do nothing to stop and start laughing.

“Myself, Jackie and Jermaine, we were the older guys and we were responsible for a lot.

“He lashed us more than anybody because we were in Gary, Indiana. There is nothing but gangs and no jobs, there are shootings on a daily basis. My father kept a grip on his older sons more than anything.”

Tito’s sister La Toya, 62, has also claimed she was sexually abused by Joe. But Tito sighs: “To be honest, I really don’t care. My father is not here and he was loved by the entire family. So let it be. I don’t talk to my siblings about that because whatever they experienced or they think they experienced, that is their story.”

Tito believes Joe’s tough love philosophy is what kept Michael and his brothers on the straight and narrow. He says: “I wasn’t a bad kid but I was one of them that would follow. I was 11 or 12 and hanging with gangsters.

“My father recognised the people I was with and told me to go home. I knew I was in trouble. He said, ‘If I see my son hanging out with you guys again you are going to have to answer to me’. You can call it tough love but it was definitely love.”

Many of Tito’s friends are dead now because they went down the wrong path.

He says: “I have a lot of friends I grew up with and they are not here. They died in Gary from drugs and gangs, got shot, got stabbed.

“My father actually did a great job. And people don’t understand that because people don’t want to understand it. My father did a terrific job.”

Tito reckons the US would benefit from having more strict parents like Joe following a spate of shootings.

He says: “If there was more parents like my father you wouldn’t have these kids running round with AK-47s and shooting up the classroom. But people don’t think about things like that.”

Joe was laid to rest in a small family funeral last week. There were rumours Michael’s daughter, Paris, refused to talk to her aunt Janet. But Tito says: “All of the family kissed my dad’s head. It was very loving. People said lovely things. My cousin is a minister and we all prayed together. The saddest moment was when my mum walked over to my dad and held his hand. That broke my heart.”

Katherine, 88, stuck by Joe despite his 25-year affair with Cheryl Terrell – which resulted in daughter Joh’Vonnie, 43. She tried to divorce him twice, in 1973 and 1982, but both times was persuaded to change her mind.

Tito believes his long-suffering mum – who had 10 kids with Joe – will love him for the rest of her life. He says: “My father never talked about regret. My mum and dad have been together since high school. She asked him if he was in pain and he said, ‘Uh em’. And then he passed away the next day.

“She will love him until the day she dies.

“It was a true love story. I feel the most sorrow for my mum because she is without her partner.”

Tito says he visited Joe the day before he died and thanked him. Katherine was by his side when he passed. He says: “He couldn’t speak but I thanked him for everything that he has done and the world he had led me to, I thanked him for all the things I learnt from him. He recognised I was there and I was speaking to him. He understood what I was saying but he wasn’t able to reply.”

Tito admits he looks up to his father more than anyone else in the family.

He says: “Out of all the kids, I’m probably the one who wanted to be him. I do a lot of things in my life that he did, things like mechanics and carpentry.

“He played guitar, I played guitar. I smoked the same cigarettes as him. I want him to be remembered as one of the greatest dads around. The thing I really liked about my father is he was a man of his word, he told the truth when he talked, whether you liked it or not.

“He didn’t mean to hurt your feelings but he would just let you know. If he didn’t like it, he would let you know, if he loved it he would let you know. He was straightforward like that.”

The Jacksons have sold 75 million records worldwide but when Michael died aged 50 in 2009, his estate went bankrupt. Then in the years that followed, it generated billions of album sales, the film Michael Jackson’s This Is It and the Cirque du Soleil show Michael Jackson: One.

In 2016, Michael’s estate made another $750million when it sold its remaining stake in a music catalogue to Sony. The deal gave Sony sole ownership of works recorded by The Beatles, Bob Dylan and other best-selling artists.

And in 2017, Michael topped Forbes’ list of top-earning dead celebrities for the fifth year in a row, after raking in $75million for the year.

Tito stresses that his dad was the driving force for all of this, saying: “He was tough in business.

“My dad was softer as he got older. He was soft with his family. He was tough in business. He didn’t want people to take advantage of his children.”

The Jacksons will perform in Edinburgh tonight and Tito knows Michael and his father will be with them.

Before he is whisked off for a rehearsal, he says: “It’s hard to let that go.”
