#OnThisDay November 5th, 1993. #MichaelJackson attended a children's party at the Hard Rock Cafe in Mexico City next to his
hotel where I was dinner most of the time during my stay there!
Sam Emerson warned me to the event and do the shooting.
Michael joined them bringing gifts for everyone and left to the
children his jacket that he was wearing at the time dedicating it.
The jacket was later auctioned off. The party was dedicated to the
children sensation of roof by the orphanage ′′ La Ninez Mexicana ",
where 187 children participated.

Michael Jackson Held My Hand, Too
Posted: September 6, 2009

Immagine

I should have come forward with this years ago…it’s been my little secret for too long but now I’m breaking my silence and going public with the fact that Michael Jackson held my hand, too…

The incident took place at Universal Studios during the filming of the music video, Scream, featuring Michael and his sister, Janet. Not too long before this I had met Michael while working on the stage production and rehearsals for the Dangerous tour.

Both Mark Romanek, the director of Scream, and Tom Foden, the Production Designer, are uncompromising perfectionists. It’s been a real pleasure to work with both of them on numerous projects. In the film business, working with people who maintain a vision is significantly better than working for those who lack the big picture. On this particular job I was working with the art department headed by Tom Foden. Other members of the art department included Dana Garman, Richard Berg, Jamie Vickers, Paulie Pietsch, Michael Manson, Mark Brooks, to name a few.

The Scream video may be the most expensive music video ever made, I believe the total production/post production budget was somewhere near 8.3 million dollars. And I can tell you the art department budget took a good chunk of that, maybe half. The sets took up three full sized stages at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, with over a dozen sets placed on these three stages. Once shooting began, my role was the ‘on-set dresser’, basically the ‘art department representative’ who remains on set at all times as the ‘face’ of the art department. By the very nature of the position, the on-set dresser has close interaction with the talent while on the set.

This was a crazy big job, no doubt about it. Three stages, over a dozen sets, twenty shoot days.

On the first day of shooting we had a 7am call, except Michael was detained until mid-afternoon. Then hair and make-up, get him to the set and it’s 4:30 pm before we roll. It became clear that we would be shooting nights for the next twenty or so days. It was also clear that Michael liked it this way…working at night, that is.

Finally, we get down to business. Michael makes his entrance and is met by Mark who explains the shot. The first footage we shoot with Michael is of him dancing on one of the many white floors seen throughout the video. Michael finds his position, about six feet from camera, does a couple of takes, then mentions how the floor (white vinyl linoleum) was feeling slick. I move in with my tools, a fine grade steel wool, rag and a spray bottle with the ‘special sauce’ and scruff up the floor a bit with the wool then step back. Mark comes out from behind the camera, looks at my handiwork then calls out for Tom before asking me if we lost the ‘gloss’. I say no, give it a quick spray with the special sauce and it dries to a sparkle. When I get up from my kneeling position Michael is smiling at me and says, “I remember you from the tour rehearsal”. I say, “That’s right”, and he asks me how my kids are doing, I say, “great, amazing.” And then everything is back to normal, Michal does his bit and we’re off to a good start.

As predicted, crew call switched from 7am to 4pm, and we worked throughout each night until 4-6am.

In the final hours of the last night of shooting, we had moved to the ‘zen’ set. This was it, last day, last set, last series of shots. The art department had prepped the set with final touches before Michael was brought in to take his place on the zen podium in the center of the set. Michael surveyed the scene and commented on how beautiful the set looked. He was very relaxed and it was obvious he enjoyed sitting in the middle of this temporary temple.

When Mark called out for a piece of the ceiling to be trimmed, I grabbed a 12-step (ladder), scrambled to the top and began sawing. In an unfortunate moment the portable saw kicked back and amputated a third of my left ring finger. Without word, I reached in my back pocket for my rag, wrapped my finger with it and stepped down off the ladder and exited the set. I passed Tom on the way out and showed him what happened. Tom escorted me to the edge of the stage and I laid down on the concrete. It wasn’t long before an entire film crew of towering bodies was in a half circle looking down at me. Union guys chewing gum. 3am. Right?

Suddenly the crowd parts and Michael appears and stands there for a moment, leaning over me, looking down. He looks at my left hand held in the air then he looks at me. Then just like that he is on his knees by my right side and he picks up my right hand and holds it in his. He looks me straight in the eye and tells me how sorry he was, he kept repeating how sorry he was, and then he had tears in his eyes and he held my hand until the ambulance came and took me away.

That next week, recovering at home, the gifts began arriving from Michael and Janet, tasteful and cool things like great soaps, a bathrobe, incense, a card. Anyway, that’s my story. Michael Jackson held my hand, too. Michael, if you read this, thanks for caring.

On December 13, 1984, Michael Jackson visits the unit for burn victims at Brotman Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles, him having been admitted there previously for head injuries, derived from a stage pyrotechnics incident during filming the commercial for Pepsi along with his brothers. Among the victims, he meets 23-year old mechanic, Keith Perry, burned over 90 percent of his body in a car crash. The surgeons declare that Michael's visit at Perry’s bedside was the main reason he had pulled through: "Michael encouraged him, talking to him for hours”.Michael visited the Brotman Memorial Hospital, where he had been treated when he was seriously burned during the producing of a Pepsi commercial. He donated all the money he received from Pepsi, $1.5 million, to the Michael Jackson Burn Center for children

December 17, 2004. #MichaelJackson opened his heart and welcome to his ranch at Neverland 200 under priviledged and disadvantaged children from Los Angeles to a Christmas Party.
Michael personally thanked everyone, including the press and media invited to the event. Michael stated :
“I don’t (get to have fun outside of my property). I go off property sometimes, but not all the time. I create my own world behind the gates because I can’t go to the local movie theatre down the street or the local park down the street or go pick up ice cream at the market down at the corner store. So you want to create that world behind the gates. That’s what I like to do. It’s not just for me. I can share with my family or friends or whoever I do.…I created Neverland as a home for myself and my children and it was created simply, it was almost like it was done subconsciously. For me and sharing with others. It gave me a chance to do what I couldn’t do when I was little. We couldn’t go to movie theaters.…We couldn’t do all those fun things. We were on tour. We were working hard. And we did enjoy it. But this allowed me to have a place behind the gates where the entire world I love is here… I’ve traveled the world over 8 times. I do as many hospitals and orphanages as I do concerts. But, of course, it’s not covered (by the press). That’s not why I do it, for coverage. I do it because it’s from my heart. And there are so many children in the city who haven’t seen the mountains, who haven’t been on a carousel, who haven’t pet a horse or a llama, never seen them, so if I can open my gates and see that bliss, an explosion of screaming laughter from the children and they run on the rides, I say ‘Thank you, God.’ I feel I’ve won God’s smile of approval, because I’m doing something that brings joy and happiness to other people.”

MANILA, PHILIPPINES DECEMBER 1996
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQcEVTiWfK0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqjG6JQy9mU
MANILA, Philippines, December 1996..."When I was a PR officer at Manila Hotel, I was assigned to head the annual Orphan’s Christmas Party where 300 children from different orphanages around Metro Manila were treated to a day of fun and surprises. It was one of the biggest projects on my plate and it was such a challenge to focus on work the day before the big event, knowing Michael Jackson was billeted in the hotel.
Two nights before, I had been fortunate to be part of his welcome line at the hotel lobby together with the rest of the PR and sales staff but was content enough to see him walk by.
The day before, a guy claiming to be Michael Jackson’s aide from Mamarao Productions came to the office. I couldn’t recall his name but he looked for the “person in charge” and said his boss had read the announcement about the event in the Dear Guest flyers we had circulated to all the rooms a week before. Michael wanted to know how he could help.
His aide went up to the Penthouse and down to the PR office several times after we gave our suggestions.
Michael offered to fill up the 300 loot bags with goodies and toys, candies and chocolates. But after getting close to 50 sponsors, it was actually a problem for us to dispose of everything.
So I thought hard…how can the King of Pop meaningfully join the affair? I couldn’t possibly have him be with the kids in the palayok game or the pabitin as he might end up being mobbed! And since the annual event was really all about giving, I mustered all my courage and told the Mamarao guy that the best thing I could think of was for Michael to literally be present to help distribute the loot bags, sign autographs and pose with the children for photos.
“Wow, that may not be easy. You’re talking about handing goodie bags to 300 children and I can just imagine the chaos. We’ll see, Ms. Jacinto. I’ll get back to you,” he said.
Lunch break came and it was the most hurried one I ever took in my entire life. It wasn’t until after 5 p.m. that Michael’s aide came back and said, “Michael is more than happy to do whatever you suggest. How do we go about it tomorrow?”
I wanted to scream. I had to calm myself and regain composure as the Lizzie Maguire in me said, “Get real, get back into focus.”
We agreed that Michael would join after the games, musical program and snacks, and at the last part to give out the loot bags. My colleague Annette Africano and boss Dulce Agnir requested for additional security around the garden and the stage area as this was where we decided to distribute the gifts. We made sure the children would form an orderly line.
Then the moment arrived. It was at the Champagne Gardens on Dec. 7, 1996. I was surprised to see him walking towards us, guided by his aide. Michael came up to me as I had to brief him.
“Hi, how are you? Thanks so much for letting me in, I know I’m early ‘coz I didn’t want to miss the program.”
I said, “Are you kidding? Thanks so much for volunteering! Here’s what Michael, why don’t you just sit here and watch the musical numbers before we get into the gift giving. I will have to tweak the program a bit.”
He replied, “Sure, anything you say… (pausing to look at my name tag) Gwen!”
I was stunned at how incredibly sweet and modest he was. And in my mind it was, “Oh my God, this is really happening!”
Amazing how he patiently sat through the whole program. Carol Banawa, then an Ang TV mainstay couldn’t believe Michael Jackson was watching her perform. She had her red blouse signed by him right after her number. Then followed Stefano Mori’s dance number. Later, his back up singers and dancers came up on stage followed by select kids from different orphanages who danced to the beat of Billie Jean. Oh, the smile on Michael’s face was just amazing.
Then we announced that Michael will be distributing gifts onstage. I explained to him that there’s a loot bag for the younger kids and another for the older ones and he nodded. The thrill and excitement he gave those children was incredibly touching. It was in between the gift bag distribution that I caught a glimpse of Michael Jackson, not as a performer but as a person.
It was one in the afternoon. Santa Claus (David Endriga, a friend of fellow PR officer Francis Capistrano) was with us.
The heat was scourging and I was worried that Michael felt so hot with his black long-sleeved signature attire and hat.
“Are you alright Michael? We can let you take a break,” I asked.
He said, “I’m cool Gwen. Just imagine how Santa feels inside his velvet suit and beard. We’ll be fine.”
I never heard him complain or say a word about how hot it was or how long the line was. He had the most beautiful manners. He didn’t even ask for a drink or a towel to wipe his sweat but one of our banquet staff made sure he got a glass of fresh orange juice.
An hour passed and we were halfway through gift-giving when we noticed that the garden was getting filled up. Suddenly, there were people from media, politicians, officials and hotel guests including those in a wedding reception at the nearby Champagne Room who deserted the newly-weds just to get a glimpse of the King of Pop.
“Oh oh, this isn’t supposed to be, I’m so sorry,” I said. It’s all right, we’ll get through it,” Michael said smiling.
As we finished giving out the last loot bag to an 11-year-old orphan, a new line of more kids and adults formed. Michael’s bodyguard, Wayne, said. “We can leave now.”
Michael replied calmly, “We can’t leave when there are still people in line. It’s Christmas, dude.”
I felt my heart beat faster and the hair on my arms and the back of my neck stood up. He wasn’t just the most electrifying performer, but the most generous person.
One of the most memorable moments was when a lady came up to him for an autograph. Laughing and holding his tummy, he said “Hey Gwen, you’ve gotta check this out. He whispered, “It’s a blank check. The lady is making me sign on a blank check.”
We laughed hard and little did we know that it wasn’t even half of the comedy. He later showed me and Wayne other stuff people would use or pick up on the ground when they couldn’t find paper for him to sign on. One lady made him sign at the back of her elegant, designer Filipiniana gown. One teenager came up to him holding a dead leaf and another one, a popped balloon. Imagine how our laughter ballooned as well.
It was an amazing, genuine experience. At one point he asked if I was going to catch his History concert and I said “tomorrow night.”
“Oh, you’ll have a blast!” Michael told me.
At this point he became concerned about the stage as adults outnumbered the kids. His face had nervousness written all over it but he still didn’t complain. He tapped the wooden floor with his foot several times making sure it was sturdy enough not to fall apart. “I’ve experienced the stage collapse and I just want to make sure we’re all safe here,” he explained.
Half of me wanted the line to finish because we were literally melting and worried about our safety, but half of me didn’t, knowing that once the line ended, Michael will leave.
At some point it did end. I managed to get an autograph for my sisters and me before our general manager, Clem Pablo, requested him to sing Give Love on Christmas Day.
Cesar Sarino, one of the hotel’s officials, addressed his thank you note to the King of Pop. Then I saw his guards and aides whisking Michael off stage.
I said in my mind, “Oh man, I didn’t even have the chance to say goodbye.”
Suddenly, I saw Michael return on stage and say, “Thanks so much to you and your team, Gwen. This really means a lot.”
Then he held me beside him and said, “I’ll see you at the concert.”
As Michael Jackson is laid to rest and returned to pristine condition in the afterlife, these two incredible acts of the King of Pop – volunteering for charity and unselfishly spending time with the less fortunate, will forever be the way I will remember this man.

"I asked him, “Michael, how can you do that? How can you spend the time with these children who are dying and then go from that, on stage and give that kind of performance?” He said, “How could I not? If these children want to see me, I know I’m not important, but Michael Jackson the superstar is, and if I can make a child live an extra minute or an hour or a day or a month, then wouldn’t that be worth it?” Michael was always that way. If he would get a call from somebody and a child was dying, he would get on a plane and go and he would tell them, I’m going to be back in 2 weeks to see you,’ and alot of the times he extended little kids’ lives that way. It gave them something to look forward to down the line. You have to admire something like that." #DavidNordahl #MJHumanitarian

In September, 1987, Michael Jackson donates 20,000 dollars to a family in Japan, for their 5-year old kidnapped and murdered son, Yoshiaki Hagiwara, in memory of whom the singer says a few words while on stage in Yokohama, Japan, on the second leg of his Bad World Tour. He also dedicates the Tour to the late youth. Furthermore, on September 13, he displays his support towards a campaign against racism, as well as towards "NAACP"s mission to help arrest prejudiced conduct against black artists.
In October, 1987, Michael gives away 30 personal items and memorabilia such as t-shirts, sunglasses or a windbreaker for an auction addressing "UNESCO", the proceeds of which being invested into awareness raising and helping educate children in developing countries.

January 18th, 1993. #MichaelJackson took time out
from rehearsals for the Inaugural Gala to visit Children's Hospital
here. For two hours Michael visited the sickest children, the burned,
the cancerous, the dying. One, hairless from radiation treatment
and tied with tubes to life-support machines, had taped a white
glove -- a Michael Jackson signature -- to his pale hand, and
followed the singer as far as he could drag his equipment.
Michael Jackson spoke quietly to him, and signed an autograph,
and the boy beamed. ( The Washington Post )

#StoryOfTheDay #MichaelJackson Showed Support to the town of Stockton, California in January 1989. Michael Jackson was there for us when it mattered most. He didn't have to, but that was the side of him that many people did not know.
STOCKTON, CA - Diane Batres wasn't happy back in 1989 when she took a call from someone at MJJ Productions.
"I thought it was someone wanting to make a movie. I was furious," said Batres. The Cleveland School shootings had happened a couple weeks before, and Batres was in charge of the District Attorney's Victim Witness department.
Then she learned MJJ was Michael Jackson, offering a Stockton visit to comfort survivors of the school attack..."It was very kind of him to do this. He brought truckloads of gifts to the children. He was genuinely concerned and expressed his sorrow," said Batres.
Michael Jackson gave videotapes of his recent recordings to the children. One of the songs was 'Man in the Mirror.' Batres heard later from a grateful parent how much that meant.
"One of the mothers called after the experience and said, 'I'm so glad I saw that' because she realized for the first time there were yellow tears, white tears, brown tears and black tears. Every tear was the same color. They all felt the same sadness," said Batres.
On a day when the City of Stockton was down for the count, Michael Jackson showed up out of the blue and resuscitated us back into existence. We could not do the same for him.
After a madman with a rifle killed and injured dozens of schoolchildren at Cleveland Elementary in Stockton, California, nobody would expect the world's biggest musical superstar to take notice and make the effort to show up in person in January of 1989.
Patrick Purdy may have destroyed many lives that day, but Michael Jackson's presence helped bring more attention and compassion to the victims than anybody else on planet Earth could have done in a hundred years.
I certainly remember the panic in the air around Stockton, the calamity and desperation of parents stopping everything they were doing and racing to get their kids out of school immediately. I clearly recall hoping desperately that the police got there fast and ended it in a hurry.
The incident in Stockton led to a quick assault rifle ban in California and was the beginning of national campaigns and activism against these types of deadly guns, according to an analysis by Reuters. Michael Jackson played a major role by his presence there that day.
Michael Jackson, coolest pop singer on the planet, showed up in Stockton with "truckloads of gifts to the children" and helped comfort survivors of the attack, according to Diane Batres who worked for the district attorney's victim witness department.
The Record newspaper of Stockton has reported that Michael Jackson went far beyond the call of duty when he visited the classrooms of Cleveland Elementary School and met with the injured survivors of the shooting.
This is true. The residents of Stockton suffered a huge psychological blow that cannot be described, one where one minute all is normal and the next minute a crazed maniac with an assault rifle is shooting and killing innocent children at an elementary school. The rage, madness and intensity of this cannot be compared.
It has been many years since the Cleveland Elementary School shooting in Stockton, but I get chills every time I think about it because I lived in Stockton at the time, was a high school student then, and it easily could have been my school that Purdy attacked.
Michael Jackson was exceptionally different and he had more than his share of troubles. But I don't remember any of that stuff.
My most powerful and long-lasting memory of Michael Jackson was after that school shooting in my hometown when he showed up and brought doses of mesmerizing happiness and cool comfort that nobody else in the world could bring.

#StoryOfTheDay when #MichaelJackson was hospitalized to treat
burns to the head he suffered while filming the Pepsi commercial.
Kathy McGrath was an intensive care nurse at Brotman Medical
Center, the hospital where Michael Jackson was admitted when he
suffered burns to his head while filming the Pepsi commercial.
Kathy, being a Michael Jackson fan, didn't expect the pop music
star to be one of her patients. At the time, 29 years old, the nurse
gave an interview to People Magazine in February 1984 :
“He was at the height of his career. Being his nurse was an incredible and honorable experience, as his music was the soundtrack of my life. As incredible and honorable as it was that Michael Jackson was my patient, regardless of whether he was a celebrity, I automatically went into 'Nurse Mode'. It was important that he had a private room to allow me to properly care for him and his burns without interruptions. My job was to ensure that all of my patients received prompt, first-rate, best quality medical care, including Michael.”
Michael wore a typical blue hospital gown but with one detail : The
nurses made a bandage on his head that could be camouflaged
with a hat. “You're going to start a new fad here ,” Kathy McGrath
told Michael. “He laughed''.
The nurse remembered Michael Jackson visiting Keith Perry,
a 23-year-old mechanic who had suffered third-degree burns on 95% of his body.
Another severely burned patient he had frequent contact with was
41-year-old seamstress Bessie Henderson.
“Bessie had had many operations and was very depressed.
When Michael started visiting her, she changed her status.
Michael worried about Keith and Bessie and many others
who were being treated for burns” McGrath recalled.

Nations Of Magic

" BONJOUR ! " BLESSED WEEK END EVERYONE & PLEASE STAY SAFE
Restoration in Neverland
"I was diagnosed with a rare form of child bone cancer in 2000 at the age of fifteen. I was to start chemo therapy in August of that year. Not many people know this but Michael opened up Neverland several times each year for anyone to come and enjoy the park. Everything was free. Rides, games, food. A friend of mine who was a regular at Neverland called me one night and told me the park was going to be open for two weeks at the beginning of August that year. I asked loja virtual my parents if they would take me the week before I was scheduled to start chemo. My doctors all advised against saying they feared I was too weak but I eventually talked my parents in to it. We had to drive what seemed like several miles after we went through the front gates of Neverland to get to where the actual park was with the rides. As we were driving down the winding road something came over me that I can't explain to this day. It was almost a feeling of peace.
When my family and I stepped out of the car we weren't sure if we should check in with someone or really what to do. A man finally walked over to us and introduced himself and then explained to my parents how everything worked. We signed in with our names and other information and were given matching wrist bands and told we could ride anything we wanted, eat anything we wanted, play any of the games, etc. The man mentioned that on occasion Michael would come outside and say hello to everyone there. My parents thanked the man and within minutes I was at the top of the ferris wheel loja virtual with my Dad. We rode it three times in a row and then it was on to the swings. We rode the rides for hours before getting in line to get some cotton candy and popcorn. As we sat down at a table with our snacks we noticed a crowd of children running all in one direction. I stood up on the seat of the table we were at but couldn't see anything. Several minutes later the crowd began moving towards us and it was then that I saw Michael. Standing under a huge umbrella and laughing as children were pulling at his arms, legs, and hugging him.
My Mom then grabbed my hand and we made our way over to him. We introduced ourselves and my Mom told him what a wonderful time we were having. She then told him about my cancer and that I would be starting chemo the next week. When she said that Michael put one hand on my head and said, "God Bless you." When he touched me I felt the same feeling of peace and comfort that I did as I had when we drove through the gates of Neverland. He stood there and talked to us for a couple more minutes and then he left. I continued riding rides with my family and the other children but I couldn't stop thinking about meeting him. As we were leaving that night the man who we spoke to when we arrived stopped my dad and handed him a note. The note was from loja virtual Michael and it was inviting the three of us to have dinner with him. Without hesitation my Dad accepted the invitation and the man then directed us to through another gate which led to the main house. I was surprised once we were in front of the house. I expected it to be this huge mansion but it wasn't. It wasn't small but it certainly wasn't huge. Several people who worked for him greeted us when we pulled up outside. We had dinner with Michael and his children that night and to this day it was the best night of my life. After dinner he asked my parents if it would be ok if he prayed with us and of course they said yes. I had never and still to this day have never heard anyone pray the way he did. At fifteen years old it made me cry.
After he finished praying I opened my eyes and looked to each of my parents who were in tears as well. Michael was gracious enough to give us a tour of some of the things were weren't able to see earlier in the day. He showed us the arcade and the movie theater. The movie theater at Neverland was not your typical theater. Not only were there seats like a real theater, there were also beds for the children who were too sick to sit up. After showing us around we said goodbye to Michael and thanked him for everything. Imagine my Mother's surprise when she received a call from him several days later! We assumed he had obtained our number from the sign in sheet that we filled out upon arriving at Neverland. He asked her how I was doing and she told him I would begin chemo on Monday. He then gave her a number in which to reach him directly and asked her to please call him and let him know how I was doing around the middle of the week. She agreed. I went that Monday morning to the hospital prepared to begin chemo. When the doctor walked in the room he asked both of my parents to sit down. The three of us feared he was going to say the cancer had spread. They had run blood work and some more scans on me two days prior which is loja virtual typical prior to beginning treatment. When the doctor began to speak he looked at my parents and said, "I don't know how to tell you this. I don't know how to explain this but Danielle no longer has cancer. There are no signs of it on any of the scans we just took." My Mom, my Dad, and I sat there and just stared at him and finally my Mom burst in to tears. We left the hospital and the first thing my Mom did when we got home was call Michael. I was embarrassed because she was crying on the phone but then she handed the phone to me to speak to him and it was obvious he had been crying as well. Through the years Michael remained in touch with my family and would call us several times a year on the phone to say hello. He would sometimes send us gifts and cards. I have been cancer free for ten years now. I can't explain what happened when I went to Neverland. It's defies explanation. I want people to know that I am not the only one who visited Neverland very sick only to become well after my visit. There are hundreds, if not thousands of us. Our stories were never made public because Michael didn't want that. He was a wonderful man. I have never met anyone who cared so deeply about not just children but people in general."

ON THIS DAY IN MICHAEL JACKSON HISTORY MAY 22 1992 Michael Jackson paid for the funeral of a 9-year-old boy killed in his home by a stray bullet.Micgael stepped in after reading that the parents of Ramon Sanchez Jr. couldn't afford to bury him, said Mary Sutton, a Los Angeles County victim services representative.
The youngster was drinking a glass of milk May 6 when an errant bullet pierced the kitchen window of the family apartment in Watts and struck him in the head.
Sutton said Michael's representatives called her just days after Ramon's death to relay the offer of assistance. In addition to funeral, mortuary and cemetery costs, Michael paid for a headstone.
The family met Michael last week at a studio where he was filming a commercial.A Jackson aide issued a statement quoting the family as telling Jackson, "Ramon was one of your biggest fans. You have helped make a very tragic time for us more bearable. Your involvement was a very pleasant surprise and we are eternally grateful."

On November 18, 1987, #MichaelJackson visited the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, Australia. Natasha Lang, mother of a child committed in the hospital at the time, offers her account of his visit there years later: “[…] I will never forget that day as long as I live, when Michael came to the hospital with an abundance of stuffed animal toys, so generously given, to all the children in the children’s ward. He went around the ward and visited each child personally and quietly spoke words of comfort to them and I will never forget the delight of these children, the medical staff and the parents who visited on that day. My son now is a grown man and I wish to share this photograph with the whole world because it shows Michael’s selfless and generous nature. My son, unfortunately, lost his eye in a school accident that week and, as you can imagine, it was a real tragedy for the whole family, but that day he gave us all some joy, great pleasure and an abundance of happiness.”

On the occasion of this day August 19 as the World Humanitarian Day, let me present you Camp Good Times on which #MichaelJackson was involved since its creation.
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times is a California-based charitable camp for children with cancer. Established in 1983 as an expansion of a 1977 effort to build temporary housing for seriously ill children and their families during treatment, the charity drew financial and organizational support from numerous celebrities, with Dustin Hoffman and Michael Jackson playing prominent roles in its early growth.
The predecessor of the camp was a project announced in November 1977 to build a temporary home for up to 16 seriously ill children and their families to stay during treatment, sponsored by the Los Angeles Rams football team, the McDonald's Operators of Southern California, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The house was to be owned and operated by a nonprofit group formed for this purpose, Southern California Children's Cancer Services.
Construction began in June 1979, and by March 1980, about two thirds of the necessary funds had been raised, with the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team joining the effort. In 1983, Southern California Children's Cancer Services sponsored two five-night summer camp programs in Malibu for children with cancer, naming the program Camp Good Times.
In February 1984, a fundraising drive for Camp Good Times was supported by Michael Jackson, Richard Chamberlain, O. J. Simpson, David Soul, Neil Diamond, and Dustin Hoffman.
Later in 1984, Camp Good Times was renamed Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. Dustin Hoffman had become interested in the charity due to the experience of his nephew, who visited the camp while fighting leukemia.
Hoffman and Michael Jackson, another of the most significant contributors to the effort, were considered the "Founding Fathers" of the camp. Following the 1984 Victory Tour, headlined by The Jacksons and showcasing Jackson's solo material, Michael Jackson donated his entire share of the proceeds, an estimated $3 to 5 million, to charity.
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times was one of three major recipients of these donations, enabling the charity to build a year-round facility. All profits from Jackson's February 1988 single, "Man in the Mirror", the fourth consecutive number one single from Michael Jackson's album, Bad, also went to this charity.

“I tried to teach Michael about the world through documentaries. One day, Michael and I watched a film about the less fortunate children in Africa. The state of their lives brought us to tears. Michael, sympathetic at the age of 14, turned to me and said, ‘One day, mom, I’m going to do something about it’.
Many years later, he did. Michael surprised me on a trip to New York. We went to the airport hangar where I witnessed boxes of food, goods and emergency supplies being loaded onto several planes lined up on the runway. I was proud to know that my son followed his words”. – Katherine Jackson in ‘My Family, The Jacksons’

Halloween Interview with Prince:
"So, when people talk about my father they talk about him as the greatest entertainer of all time. That's where the moniker King of Pop came from. But what people don't really realize and what he always expressed to me growing up is he don't really want to be remembered for his music. He would prefer to be remembered for his humanitarian work and his philanthropy work. Because even if you listen to almost all of his songs, they're about inspiring love and compassion as well as inspiring a good time and making you feel happy, because that's the type of person he was. So for me continuing on that legacy of philanthropy is my calling, it's what I need to do and what I feel it deserves all of my time and attention. And I feel that my father was such a global icon, and still is, that the Heal the World Foundation worked fantastically for him. I'm blessed to have the following that I do but I feel that I can best use my talent within a certain location and that's why I would like to start with my hometown L.A. and then hopefully inspire others to start Heal Chicago or Heal New York or at some point, once we get the following, we will branch out and start working on other places."
"It's very interesting, one of my favorite memories is we would use to dress up as Spiderman and it would be a whole family of Spiderman, my dad, me, my brother and my sister, you know, like different hights of Spiderman in full suit, and it's kinda nasty, but the mask smelled like my spit the whole time but I always think just fondly about that memory and that smell just because it was a family outing, you know. On top of candy, who doesn't love candy?"
"I think with any siblings you grow up in a situation and factors which are very similar. So just like in that situation you have a bond with them because nobody else really understands how you grew up or how you're raised. But they 100% understand you and it's a very raw and unfiltered relationship and especially, you know, when there is a lot of people who may not have the best intentions for you, it's very easy to get caught up in a lot of fake personalities. So I think it only made us stronger as siblings to have that bond, to have that very real and raw relationship with each other that we know it's always love."

March 3rd, 1995. #MichaelJackson attended the funeral of Craig Fleming, a twenty-two-month-old baby whose mother threw him over the side of a Los Angeles bridge along with his four-year-old brother, Michael, before jumping herself in a failed suicide attempt. The Long Beach mother and her four-year-old son survived the incident, although her son Michael, was badly battered, requiring a lot of medical aid and a lengthy stay in hospital. MJ paid for his medical costs, established a trust fund that continued to benefit the boy for years to come, and dedicated the song "Childhood" from his "HIStory" album to his brother, Craig’s memory. He was also involved in founding the "Community School/Safety Havens Initiative", with the purpose of creating a secure environment for L.A. families and consisted of after-school activities, namely; computer, languages, mathematics and sports courses and programs.

🌠 13th - 21st August 2001 - Michael shoots the You Rock My World 13-minute short film in Los Angeles directed by Paul Hunter and featuring Chris Tucker and a special appearance by Marlon Brando.
After Robert DeNiro turned Michael down to star in his newest video for You Rock My World, Michael turned to Brando, who was a longtime close friend of the entertainer and paid regular visits to his Neverland Ranch, resting there for weeks at a time. Brando also participated in the singer's two-day solo career 30th-anniversary celebration concerts in 2001, and gave a speech to the audience on humanitarian work. The actor's son, Miko, was Michael's bodyguard and assistant for several years, and was a friend of the singer. He stated "The last time my father left his house to go anywhere, to spend any kind of time... was with Michael Jackson. He loved it... He had a 24-hour chef, 24-hour security, 24-hour help, 24-hour kitchen, 24-hour maid service."

The incident took place at Universal Studios during the filming of his video, SCREAM, with #MichaelJackson and his sister, Janet. Just before I met Michael, while working on the production phase and rehearsals for the Dangerous tour.
Both Mark Romanek, director of Scream, and Tom Foden, production designer, are absolutely perfectionists. It has been a pleasure to work with both on many projects. In the world of cinema, working with people who have a vision is significantly better than failing to be clear about the concept. In this particular job, I worked in the art department directed by Tom Foden along with other members of the department including Dana Garman, Richard Berg, Jamie Vickers, Pietsch Paulie, Mark Brooks, to name a few.
The 'SCREAM' video may be the most expensive video ever made, I think the total production / post-production budget was something like $ 8.3 million. And I can say that the budget for the art department had a large share, almost half. For the scenario, it took three complete spaceships from 'Universal Studios' in Los Angeles, with more than a dozen sets placed in those spaceships. Once recording began, my role was basically the “art department representative”, who had to stay on set all the time as the “art department guy”. Due to the nature of my work, I had a close interaction with the talents on the scene.
During the first day of recording we received a call at 7 am, it was expected that Michael would show up in the afternoon. After hair and makeup at 4:30 pm, the recordings started. It was clear that we were going to record at night for the next 20 days. It was also clear that Michael liked to do this: work at night.
Finally Michael made his entrance and met Mark who explained the recording. The first thing he recorded with Michael was when he dances on one of the white solos you see in the video. Michael found his position, about 2 meters from the camera, made a couple of takes, then immediately mentioned that the floor (white vinyl linoleum) was slipping. I went with my tools, a metal sandpaper, a piece of cloth and a spray can with a “special liquid” and rubbed the floor a little with the sandpaper. Mark got out from behind the camera, looked at my handiwork and called Tom and then asked if he had lost his "shine". I said no, that when applying the special spray it would shine again. When I got up Michael looked at me, smiling: "I remember you at rehearsals on the tour." I said yes", and asked how my children were doing, I said: "well, they are incredible". And everything went back to normal, Michael did his part.
As predicted, the call to the team went from 7 am to 4 pm and we worked from 4pm to 4am in the morning. In the last hours of the last day of filming, we went to the “zen” scene. That was the last day, the last scene, the last recording session. The art department had put the finishing touches on the stage before Michael stepped in to take his place on the podium at the center of the 'Zen' scene. Michael directed the scene and said how good it had been. He was very relaxed, it was obvious that he liked to sit in the middle of this temporary temple.
When Mark asked to break the center of the ceiling, I took a 12-step ladder, went up and started sawing. In an unfortunate moment when I was sawing, I cut off my third left finger. Without saying anything, I looked for a cloth in my back pocket, wrapped my finger around it, went down the stairs and left the stage. I passed Tom on the way out and showed him what had happened. Tom took me to one end of the ship and we sat on the tarmac. At the time when a lot of people on the team were around me. A group of boys chewing gum at three in the morning.
Suddenly, the circle of people opened and Michael came and stopped for a moment, leaned over me, looking down. He noticed my left hand and then looked at me. He knelt beside me and took my right hand and squeezed it with his. He looked into my eyes and told me how he felt, he kept saying how much he felt, he ended up with tears in his eyes and took me by the hand to the ambulance.
The following week, recovering at home, gifts from Michael and Janet arrived. Tasteful objects such as a bathrobe, incense sticks, a card among other things.
