Thriller al 2° posto tra i migliori album in assoluto in GB

29-08-2006 - Tempo di sondaggi musicali in Gran Bretagna, e a vincere è sempre il rock classico. Per il 50mo anniversario della classifica di vendita degli album, BBC Radio 2 ha condotto un grandissimo sondaggio che ha coinvolto oltre 220.000 persone, per proclamare il miglior album di tutti i tempi arrivato al numero 1 della chart. Ha vinto "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" dei Beatles, anno 1967, considerato da moltissimi il più bel disco dei Fab Four nonché quello più rivoluzionario per aver avviato la storia del pop. Al numero 2 c'è "Thriller" di Michael Jackson e al numero 3 "The Joshua Tree" degli U2. Seguono "Rumours" dei Fleetwood Mac al numero 4 e "Wish You Were Here" dei Pink Floyd al numero 5. I votanti hanno nel complesso preferito i Beatles, dal momento che il gruppo di Liverpool piazza nei primi diversi altri album: "Revolver" al numero 6, "Abbey Road" al numero 8, "The Beatles" (album bianco) al numero 10 e "Rubber Soul" al numero 11. Tra i grandi album che non ce l'hanno fatta ad arrivare al numero 1 in Gran Bretagna, il pubblico ha votato "The Dark Side Of The Moon" dei Pink Floyd come preferito, seguito da "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars" di David Bowie.
